I know that many of FI's 767 routes, were upgauged because they wanted to carry more cargo, and FI carries tons of fish in its aircrafts belly. Sad to hear it affects the one of Iceland's main economic sectors and people's jobs.
Jump to postThats great news! I wonder if other long flights like SFO-BOS,JFK-SEA,BOS-LAX,JFK-SAN and other will also get complimentary meal services.
Jump to postI was wondering why does F9 fly between ATL-SLC. They are an ULCC and focus on O&D traffic, but is there really enough O&D traffic between Atlanta and Salt Lake City? Plus its an interhub route for DL which clearly dominates the market, so what is F9 strategy over there? Do they fly there ju...
Jump to postWhich is basically nothing, specially since those tourists are sparsed in a country the size of Europe, from Vancouver to Québec to Yukon to Toronto (so obviously they cannot be served by one single airport). Compare it to NYC http://www.nycandcompany.org/research/nyc-statistics-page Yes they canno...
Jump to postHow much MEM demand is there for DL's JFK destinations not already served from ATL? There's already MEM-LGA served by both AA and DL, plus MEM-EWR on UA. There are some, plus flying through ATL involves backtracking. Cite a source for PDEW MEM to those specific destinations, and show how flying thr...

I wonder if DL will announce MEM-JFK, seems like a big hole.
Jump to postYou are all praising AMS, but I actually preffer connecting at CDG over AMS.It has Pretty short immigration lines(unlike AMS). Also its very convenient to get from 2G to T2 and at AMS you need to walk forever. Also I had more pleasant flying experiences with AF than KL. Of course if I wasnt using DT...
Jump to postThose routes are very strange. Why so many flights to Poland? I know most of the tourism to Poland is in Warsaw and southern Poland, so why Gdansk and Poznan? I guess there's lots of Jewish people living there. Besides, southern Poland is (unfortunately) very important in the history of the Jewish ...
Jump to postThats great news! Do both routes will be daily? Because YUL-KEF daily seems like alot of service with WOW and FI. Now I hope UA will launch a summer seasonal EWR-KEF.

Jump to postPretty strange route, but I guess leisure can make it happen. Now lets hope BNA will earn its long discussed BNA-LHR!
Jump to postWith the opening of KRK-ORD, I wonder if LOT will open a small hub there. Ive been to Krakow two monthes ago, and this lovely city is way underserved.
Jump to postI guess there isnt much pax traffic between those two suggested routes, but those flights will be of diplomatic reasons and may carry alot of cargo between those routes(probably weapons and ammunition).
Jump to postI find BNA-YYC to be an extremely odd route. YYC has no flights to BOS, WAS or ATL but has a flight to BNA? Odd... Well...it's only 2x a week, but yes it is an odd route. But WR does fly BNA-YYZ. So it makes a little more sense. Well its still weird, especially that they compete with AC on BNA-YYZ....
Jump to postWow did not see that coming! too bad though its just an interline and not a codeshare agreement.

Jump to postInteresting to know. I have no intentions to return, but I always assumed all flights to Israel had the same security procedures..i thought it was a pre-condition for any airline to be allowed to fly into Israel. There is more than meets the eye. For instance Turkish flights to TLV have several sec...
Jump to postI flew BUD-TLV with Up, it was a very different story :/ Thats because LY is different, They have Israeli security at every airport questioning you at chek-in which is a big headache. When I flew PS and DL to Israel, it was an ordinary flight. Interesting to know. I have no intentions to return, bu...
Jump to postWill they have to base Israeli security in Iceland? I flew FR BUD-VDA a few weeks ago, and there was nothing out of the ordinary! Jump to postI think their biggest problem is Inter-Asian flights. Alot of competition from LCCs and alot of low yielding markets. I think their Long Haul routes have better yields and less competition and it seems they are dominating the NA-HKG flights.
Jump to postThey requested slots so its not clear if they will fly this summer or not. But does the TLV-KEF flight is going to arrive in time for the WOW flight banks to NA and the opposite? Anyway, hope this comes to frutation and WOW and FI continue growing!
Jump to post1. I think it can, Frontier might also add MCO but not in the near time since the market is pretty served. Not sure about Allegiant though, Maybe they can add something out of the box like MSY or AUS but I dont think they would fight head to head with other LCCs on those routes. 2. Maybe they would ...
Jump to postI wonder who the hell would fly Mahan between BKK-SYD solely  Maybe the person that is asking :). It would be a great oppertunity as I wouldn't have to fly Iran to fly them(as U.S citizens are barred from entering Iran unfortounately). Are you kidding? I've been to Iran ten times and always ha...
Jump to postIm glad to see this, it also looks like QR has grown alot in 2016. QR is a great airline with great service, and connecting and DOH is much simpler than in giant DXB!
Jump to postThose numbers are truly ridiculous. BTW, I have been to Iceland last year and I did not see a large number of asian tourists, I did saw many Americans, Germans, British and Canadian travelers.
Jump to postlesfalls wrote:cedarjet wrote:I don't know about an Aussie airline to IKA but Mahan (W5) want to tag SYD onto their existing IKA-BKK flights. Would be great!
Would that mean 5th freedom on the BKK-SYD sector?
What is their business plan? I mean CLT dosent generate much O&D traffic, especially when its flights to WV and they dont interline with AA or have a big hub at CLT so what is their business plan, serving WV and FL routes with one stop at CLT?
Jump to postwhat is the rationale for SQ doing JFK FRA instead of EWR where they could get Star feed? JFK is a huge O&D market and a significant percentage of the premium market prefers JFK to EWR. I doubt SQ has much interest in carrying lower-yield connecting traffic via EWR. And until fairly recently SQ...
Jump to postIts about time an airline serve that market year round and EK is perfect for the market, whice is pretty low yielding.
Jump to postHelsinki seems to be perfectly located for Europe-Asia bound traffic but it also seems to be located under USA-ME3 bound traffic. Wonder why HEL and AY/One World has not tried to benefit this location for USA-INDIA/ASIA via HEL. I think that LAX-DBX-DEL would meet nice competition with LAX-HEL-DEL....
Jump to postIt's not. Go back to reply #3 for the bottom line - ONT is simply not a viable alternative for LAX because most of the people, and in particular the people with money, in Southern California live closer to LAX than ONT. Go back and look through the last two decades of history at LAWA, and essential...
Jump to postSo no onward connections available at JFK? That seems strange, they should really sign a codeshare agreement with B6 or DL(long shot).
Jump to postAs said above its about serving connecting traffic and maybe a little bit of O&D traffic to Amsterdam. KLM also flies to OSL so the TRF flight might be more comfortable for people in parts of southern Norway than the OSL flight. Plus they have a monopoly on that route.
Jump to postSounds pretty weird, I thought routes UA and LH fly alone, like FRA-IAH,FRA-IAD or FRA-DEN.

Jump to postSo i guess you have turned this topic from JFK/ORD-HKG on AA to 3-4-3 or 3-3-3 on AA or CX... Anyway, I think ORD and NYC to HKG are pretty much well served and I dont think AA would enter those markets. If there will be a JV between AA and CX maybe AA will swap some flights to AA metal but that cou...
Jump to postJust to clarify GOA is actually Genoa Airport, you should change it to GOI.
Those are some interesting additions, but its surprising that even though Finland is a state of barely 5 million people, AY is so big!

Can't imagine 3 weekly flights will do much against 21 weekly flights on EK/EY/QR. Air India commenced San Francisco with 3 weekly, and then upped it to 6 weekly when they were comfortable enough. Jump to postIs it going to be a 777-300ER(if it has the range?) or 200LR? Also I wonder how it will affect the ME3 and maybe SV?
Jump to postMy favourite segment length is about 1 hour, like LAX-SFO, MIA-TPA or LGA-BOS. For me the worst is 5 hours, because mostly you dont have enough time to sleep, usually there is no entertainment and time passes slowly. If its a longhaul flight, I rather fly non-stop than splitting the flight.
Jump to postTLV-AMM and SEA-YYJ are both very short, but I think both of them mainly serve connecting pax and not O&D.
Jump to postI think this airport is mostly going to serve domestic operations to TLV and Haifa, and IIRC thats a huge market. The international market from Eilat dosent seem so big, I guess Sharm El Sheikh and Hurghada takes most of the beach tourists in the area.
Jump to postIAH is the best connecting option in the US from NZ, this flight really reminds me of SYD-DFW
