KL uses the 777-200 and 777-300. AF uses an Airbus A340-300. Since JOON has been shut down, it is now operated by AF again. Guess their A340-300 is still in JOON colours.

Re: Why is the Air France flight to Cape Town only 2x weekly!?

Cape Town is a highly seasonal destination. OS also doesn't fly daily during the summer. If I am not wrong, even LX/WK only serves Cape Town twice a week in the summer. Plus AF can funnel traffic via KL and AMS due to their daily flights. LH and BA are option as well as those two airlines serve CPT ...

Don’t forget the cabin maybe empty but the cargo is full. That is where the money is. They import everything from around the world. I suspect some will go to OS and their 777s and 767s are getting older. Maybe some will go to LX. But I also strongly believe they will stay with LH mainline. It is the direct replacement for the A340-300 which has served LH well. So they will likely send it to A340-300 destinations like CPT/SJO etc.

Re: Why Are Bus Boardings so Common in Europe and so Rare in the USA?

I have boarded a 747-400 on remote in CPT. I boarded a 777/737 in DXB many times. I disembarked an A340-300 in CPT. I boarded a 777 in IST. An A319 in FRA. The silliest bus boarding I've done was in Tirana (TIA), the plane was parked around 40 metres from the gate, but they used a bus for that distance. Terminal 2 in DXB is that same. You can be parked right in front of the terminal and yet still need to take the bus. I walked on the ramp many times. ...

My theory is that the A/C was scheduled LCY-DUS-LCY-EDI and the flight dispatcher simply filed the flight plan for the LCY-EDI leg. So the flight crew fed the FMS with the issued flight plan and the A/C did its thing. At no stage was safety was compromised. No one should be losing their job over thi...
