Re: Why doesn't America have an international leisure airline?

Why would Americans buy a package in the US? They know America.
The whole purpose of the European style package is so that all the foreign 'abnormalities' are taken care of. Though packages are no longer really needed, just purely due to marketing these days.

Unusual Turning Circle at Doha Airport

I have noticed something unusual on FR24. There is a turning circle positioned adjacent to the taxiway at the threshold of runway 16L. I picked this up from an A350 being stopped there having departed from what I think is the cargo terminal. It looks like some kind of fuelling point. Or maybe a hold...

Re: Ethiopian Airlines 737MAX crashes enroute to Nairobi

Question. Does anyone know what happens in the 737 with max nose down trim, and max up elevator? E.g a runaway trim and pilots trying to counteract with elevator? Would you have any chance of climbing?

I am Not speculating here.
God bless everyone involved.

Re: BA’s 777-200ER replacement?

Still too many comparisons on here of the 350 v the 787.
The 787 is closer the 330. The 350 more towards the 777.

They are quite different machines.

Wow! I just looked up to the right and went right back to where this forum started.......all 21 years back. The Internet and this site really has come of age. Re: How far away are we from direct routings

Technically, in the future we will need less controllers. Technology should be able to space, route, and communicate automatically.

Technically you should be able to take off from San Francisco today and route direct New York. No doubt it will eventually happen.

Am a senior manager in UK rail. If I had my way, seniority would not exist.
It's a union imposed thing that encourages intimidation and unfairness rather than fairness.

Same in US?

Scrap seniority!

How far away are we from direct routings

Given today's TCAS and RNAV technology, how far away are we from "Cleared takeoff, route direct to destination".... Please don't say it will never happen.......it will one day. VOR'S and airways will, one day, become a thing of the past. In UK terms, some of the routings in and out of BHX ...

Re: Norwegian and Air Canada 737 MAX Transatlantic crew

Thanks for such good replies on this question. You can see my point on this, take out the word 'transatlantic', and I don't see any reason why this couldn't be done. It's more a case of contracts/working arrangements, and even culture that means crew nightstop. If UK airlines (and have done for year...

Norwegian and Air Canada 737 MAX Transatlantic crew

What do the crew do on these sectors? Are they single sector days and hotel?
It would seem that some of these flights could be completed on 2 sector days given the flight times/durations. Similar to TUI UK to Egypt and return.

Interested.......

Re: Ten A380 Orders Removed From Backlog

What's the seat cost for an A380 on a short haul 2 hour return (2x2 hour) versus the a320. Based on max seating configuration and flight crew doing the return sector rather than getting off and hotac. If travel companies such as TUI or Thomas Cook could fill these machines, which would make more mon...

Re: Virgin Atlantic Pilots Planing Christmas Strike

Unions are no longer needed. Do the maths on annual turnover of the unions as a business. Look at the salaries of the people at the top of the unions. Unions have a deep affiliation with the labour party, look deep into their hidden objectives. When conservatives are in power, we see strikes across ...

You have to think about the difference between inbound and outbound tourism. VS will know this from their own data. I know there are some MAX customers that have yet to take delivery of their new jets , Alaska for instance..... It’s actually not compensation, it’s a penalty. European legislation entitles everyone involved independent of nationality or residency, as long as a flight departs from or arrives in the EU. I have a massive interest in the human factor and CRM. Are there any pilots that have driven using the more classic FMC and basic EICAS setup and then the more modern 350/787 cockpit setup? For me, the man machine interface between pilot and say the 757 was just about right. Nothing too complex, but...
