I do not want to start a discussion were the virus came from ect- but What about opening up flights from China to get tourists (or Europe but that is a longer shot) as they have low numbers. Sorry what? You want to open up flights between China and Hawaii? You think you can trust any authority in C...Jump to post
Not true .. only 1 airliner has 100% air from the outside - that's the Boeing 717. Other airliners recycle around 50% of the cabin air and 50% draw from the outside. :checkmark: :checkmark: :checkmark: Thanks very much for pointing that out! Was waiting for someone else to chime in. hahahah .. well...Jump to post
I haven't heard of Covid being spread on their flights, have you? Airplanes don’t have recirculated air. They bring in fresh air to cool the cabin. That’s why it’s hot af before they turn the engines on. Not true .. only 1 airliner has 100% air from the outside - that's the Boeing 717. Other airlin...Jump to post
LGA is slot-restricted yes? So if there are any big route changes it's going to be because they're cancelling service to one city to start another. Unless airlines are able to somehow buy them from another airline. The changes should make the experience better for the passengers but I don't expect t...Jump to post

Great stuff! I remember flying to JFK in 1965 after the strike was over - I was 12. I flew BDL-JFK alone on TWA .. then went around to each of the terminals before flying back. I went counter-clockwise so the next building I got to was what I call "the hut" - National, Air Canada and Trans...Jump to post
No UA in May from DEN or LAX to Hawaii. United has consolidated all HNL flights to/from SFO - it's daily flight - their is no service to LAX, DEN, ORD, IAH, IAD or EWR. I don't see HA flying that schedule in May - way too much capacity. At the end of this past week the City & County of Honolulu extended stay-at-home through May 31. A day or so later the Governor expanded it for the entire State. Plus - all arrivals - visitor and residents - go into a mandatory ...Jump to post
Anyone who wishes for re-regulation should read this thread thoughtfully. CAB was a nightmare. ICC trucking wasn’t any better. So bad, food transport had a category for “exempt commodities” ie perishables. To me one of the interesting things about airlines before deregulation was airlines had perso...Jump to post
I worked for a tour company in Honolulu at the time and Braniff was one of the airlines we used for flights to Hawaii. Our sales rep in Texas was married to someone in BNs marketing department - and she called around 3pm-4pm that afternoon to say Braniff was shutting down. We were able to pull all t...Jump to post
Some examples from Minneapolis: - Allegheny only flew MSP-BUF rather than something that would have made more sense for them, like MSP-PIT. That route was originally flown by Mohawk who was trying to expand outside their "confined" territory. It was flown 3x day with BAC 1-11s. It would h...Jump to post
I'm surprised to see the quantity of HAs scheduling starting June. Hawaii hasn't even hit a peak yet - we're stay-in-place through April 30 - and all arrivals must quarantine for 14days - residents and tourists. I don't see that being lifted on April 30. And to think that everything will clear up in...Jump to post
Delta Airlines was scheduling ATL in a hub and spoke pattern beginning in the late 60's early 70's. It wasn't called hub and spoke in name, but that is what it was effectively. The multitude of flight destinations accelerated and commented Atlanta's position of being the largest city in the south. ...Jump to post

United now seems to be trimming .. I'm watching HNLSFO for an employee .. Thur 3/26 is down to 2 flights, Fri 3/27 is 2 flights, Sat 3/28 is 3 flights .. they haven't trimmed Sunday 3/29 yet - they're still showing 7 flights.
For LAX 3/26 is down to 2, 3/27 is 3, 3/28 is 3 and 3/29 is 4.
Not sure why but April 1 isn't indicative of United's schedule - I checked 4/1, 4/8, 4/15, etc. April 1 is 1 flight. The rest of the dates LAXHNL is 4 flights a day. Same thing happens with SFOHNL. April 1 is 1 flight through April 7 - then April 8 goes up to 4 flights. Maybe it's a rolling thing an...Jump to post

I don't think this has anything to do with Southwest - they've been working without a contract for 3 years - that's a long time to work without a contract and/or a change in your salary. I know because my salary has been frozen since 2014! I don't think HALFA is stirring any pot - he's stating fact....Jump to post
Of course talking down Norwegian benefits RyanAir, but I think we all know Norwegian is in some trouble. I’d be interested in knowing if they will get a compensation check from Boeing on the MAX? "True hubs" didn't start until deregulation in the U.S. in 1978. . That's certainly not true. The Atlanta hub had been developed by Delta (and Eastern) prior to '78. funny how go! was such a horrible, evil, mean venture-- but when Southwest does it..... There were multiple issues with go! that were operational and had nothing to d...Jump to post
