Re: IAH - Rwy 9 for Landings?

15L has been opening and closing lately. 15L is notamed closed until March 31 but I was on a flight last Saturday that departed 15L. On Thursday 27 was being used for departures of which I have not seen in a long time. At any rate seems as though the normal traffic patterns are disrupted for the tim...

Re: Atlas Air 3591 Down in Trinity Bay, Texas

The ATC recordings still baffle me a bit. First the pilot making the initial call is not the pilot requesting the deviation. Secondly, the pilot requesting the deviation makes a request to deviate West. This does not make a lot of sense as on the arrival, the aircraft is flying N NW so a deviation t...

Listening to the ATC recording, I still find it interesting that different pilots answered in such a short amount of time. Furthermore, the second pilot (voice) steps on the controller while the controller is explaining the deviation. I'm sure this will be a focal point as both voices sounded very s...

Galley's are primarily located on the right side of the aircraft. Was not uncommon years ago to be boarding while the aircraft was being catered. I always felt this was the reason as well as baggage being loaded on the right side as well.

33 would be a quite unusual approach as it takes the plane over the toll road which I understand was closed while the aircraft approached. With the storms in the area today I can only assume that 33 was the best runway with the gusty winds.
