Re: Some Observations about Greece

I used to spend my summers there when I was growing up and I've been back a few times since then, but it's been a little while since my last visit. I was born in Greece, but my family emigrated from Greece when I was an infant. I spent every summer from when I was 5 to 17 in Greece. I've been there...

Re: Some Observations about Greece

The latest we heard about Greece were the massive wildfires in August, unfortunately. My father and his caretaker both spoke a little bit about it, but I didn't see any of it, and didn't notice any real talk about it. Some Observations about Greece

Took a trip to visit my dad in Greece last week. I try to go every year, but of course, last year was a bust. My time was spent in Athens and some of the suburbs south of Athens, including the old tourist area, Glyfada. I thought I'd pass on a few observations. Maybe stimulate a little conversation....

Every type I’ve worked on allowed a reverser to be deferred. None allowed all the reverser to be deferred. I seem to recall the DC8 allowed one per wing, but I’m fuzzy on that. A quick correction, the B747 (all models) 2 reversers may be MEL’d so long as the inoperative reversers are on symmetrical...

Can the AC be dispatched with either #1 or #3 inop? How many airliners have thrust reverse on MEL for dispatch? Or does this vary by the conditions for a given flight? Re: What are the pros/cons of various airliner types to the situation of runaway trim and manual trimming?

The large manual trim wheels went away with the B727 or the early B737, if I’m not mistaken. On the Boeing’s, you stop a runaway trim by flipping the Stab Trim cutout switches. This kills hydraulic power to the stab motors. Then you trim with the alternate trim, which is an electric trim. When I get...
