Maybe they will be able to do what BWI did when they changed their name from Friendship International airport. They might try and draw more domestic flights, so that they can compete with SFO. BWI draws a lot more domestic flights than IAD does
Jump to postI remember when Friendship airport changed to BWI a number of people from the Washington area started flying out of Baltimore. Did Manchester add Boston to their name before or after Southwest started flying there?
Jump to postSomething I have never understood with airlines. There is a city like Las Vegas, that also has a fairly large Asian population on the west "coast". There is only one Asian carrier there (KAL) operating to Seoul. Why do airlines choose to serve LAX, SFO and SEA with redundant amounts of fl...
Jump to postVery good trip report. I find it interesting to read international trips out of non-hubs.
Jump to postI remember before the merger Us airways expressed early interest in the A350. US was the launch customer for the A350. But then few other airlines wanted it, and Airbus completely changed the A350 specification such that it was way too much plane for US. I don't think US's interest decades ago matt...

Jump to postI live in Orlando. Once I found out that all you get on flights from Orlando, and other cities, is a cup of water I knew they were not for me.
Jump to postThis has come up a few times. What do FA do between reaching cruise altitude and descent, apart from some drinks?. Be an on call medic, airplane security, inter passenger relations, companies eyes and ears in the cabin, ensure the aircraft is tidy, seatbelt police…and Way down the list…..Serve drin...
Jump to postThey may have authorized a strike but the FAs and the company still have a long way to go before an actual strike. While a milestone the vote is essentially a non event. Jump to posthttps://www.afacwa.org/alaska_vote_authorize_strike AS Flight Attendants unions voted 99% to authorize a CHAOS strike. Interesting line: "There’s no excuse: Alaska management has the money to buy another airline, they certainly have the money to invest in Flight Attendants." WOW! They may...

I enjoyed reading your report. I hope you had a happy Thanksgiving.
Jump to postLegacies are making passengers pay for all the extras on international travel. Especially British airways. Not sure that is true at all other than shorthaul food in economy. And yes they do offer an economy "light" ticket with no checked baggage but that is not the standard economy fare c...

Good job on the trip report.
Jump to postMCO is becoming a less than desirable airport, it isn't the same as it was 15 years ago. As Central Florida continues to take in a record number of new residents from the Northeast and Latin America, more seats and routes are going to be added and as that happens more people will continue to fly th...

Jump to postIt's hard to believe they can make money with load factors still moving from as low as 50% in winter months to max of 86% They are focused on ancilaries -which I find it right strategy-, but in the current scenario of high costs for enverything in the industry, how are they going to convince pax fo...
Jump to postWho wants to land in Fort Lauderdale, a complete dump of an airport far from South Beach, rather than Miami?!? Maybe price-conscious passengers, if Fort Lauderdale is cheaper to fly into than Miami. Not everything is about comfort, money is an important factor as well. If Miami is more expensive to...
Jump to postThe simple solution is to end the EAS program for the vast majority of these cities. Get in your car and drive. Not every airport needs to be served. If there is viable air service within two hours then drive to the airport. I’d be fine cutting the one hour and less away ones tomorrow. 2 hours is a...
Jump to postI mainly fly American, but I am more than willing to fly on Delta, United, or JetBlue. But would you consider flying Spirit, Frontier or Allegiant? Because a lot of people do. Jump to postHave to agree with the others: the airlines already offer lots of little upgrades to economy. You just have to pay for them. Premium Economy is one example of how they're really trying to cut down to the most essential stuff (legroom, seat width, more cushioning, and somewhat better food) that peop...

Jump to postIt depresses me to think that more and more people don't care about the nice things you used to get in Economy. I always enjoyed the inflight magazine. True, but those nice things rack up the price. That's considered more important these days. Many airlines still have an inflight magazine by the wa...

Jump to postI want the cheapest ticket price available. I'll spend my money once I get to my destination. Being uncomfortable for a few hours is a small price to pay imo It depends on the trip. I often fly Australia/New Zealand to the UK. For me journeys of 30+ hours in economy are the norm. Comfort matters on...
Jump to postI don't think we're going to see much improvement at all in Economy; in fact, I think airlines are going to continue degrading the product as much as possible. We're already seeing it with airlines squeezing in more slimline seats and starting to reduce frequent flyer benefits on Basic Economy tick...
Jump to postSomething that would make tight sitting economy passengers life better would be slightly upgraded economy food on longer range flights again. No, the original poster was correct. The airlines based their staffing planning and needs on what the CDC and other experts predicted for air travel, which was people being shy about flying for up to 3 years after the pandemic slows due to trauma and financial hardship, or possible re-surges. Well....
