Re: Phoenix Aviation Thread - 2019

Here is a nice walk-through video of the new T3 south concourse, posted by the local ABC channel on FB.
I was fearing for some provincial interior design after I got to see the barren check-in area last year, but this looks really nice. Chapeau!

Re: Lufthansa buying Air Berlin?

Lufthansa will not buy Air Berlin outright because of the latter's debt burden. However, there have been hints in the press that Lufthansa has been eying the long-haul fleet also, which would then be integrated in the Eurowings operation. Ultimately, Lufthansa will likely take over the rest of the A...

Because they will receive their 7th A330 around that time. They also factor in ample time for crew recruitment and training. Lack of crew was a major factor in the series of delays shortly after the launch of the long haul operation.

Rumor: Eurowings to ONT (Ontario, CA)

A rumor surfaced today on a couple of German message boards (airliners.de, cgncommunity.com) stating that Eurowings will start 3/7 service , between Cologne and Ontario, CA during summer 2017. It seems to have originated form the same source that predicted (correctly) CGN-SEA last week. If I'm not m...

Someone posted a rumor today on the German message board at airliners.de that Eurowings was going to start CGN-SEA x3/week, along with CGN-JFK x5/week next summer - for what's it worth. Given the huge success Eurowings had with the launch of long-haul flights out of CGN, this would also be a great opportunity for Air Canada or Rouge. AC used to have nonstop to neighboring DUS. With Lufthansa's shift of focus towards Cologne, this may be the better option now.
