I bought the Sony 70-300 and returned it. I bought the Tamron built Promaster 70-300 on E-Bay (70.00 dls) and am very happy with it. My DSLR is a Sony A200. Another option for you!

You already know Canon P&S are the best! Don't listen to the hype! Get you a Sony, stabilization is in the camera and the lenses are great, from Zeis to Sony to Sigmas, great choices and save money!

Set your ISO to the lowest setting, white balance auto, compensation -1/3, aperture f/8, or shoot on P,and let the camera control the apperture and shutter speed,do not shoot on auto! I presently carry a Cannon A720IS, congratulations on your choice, good luck.

Congratulations! The Sony is the best choice and as far as lenses goes you got Somy, Zeis and Sigma, and posibly othersI have two sigmas in adition to my Sony 17-20 and I love my outfit!

I totally agree, I have the Sigma 55-200 and it is the sharpest in the area of f/8-f/11, I liked the Sigma so well that I recently bought the 28-105, very good medium range zoom, great walkaround.

If you wanted a good camera with good lenses you should have bought Sony!!! (my canon P&S are tops, my Sony DSLR is awesome!) LOL. Sorry, no Canon lenses on a Nikon.

Try them out and buy the one that feels right for you, there is a lot of snobbery when it comes to the so called "top 2", I decided on the A200 and I am very satisfied, good luck.

The A200 is a great camera and the stabilized body will save you hundred from having to buy stabilized lenses, and it will do a great job for you!

You did not clip the wings, orizontal centering is perfect, you may want to bring it down just a hair, it is a great shot!

Great camera! Go for it, read your manual and generally I would say shoot in aperture priority around f8 in good light and keep your ISO as low as you can, show us some pictures!

I have had mine for two months and love it, I bought the Phoenix 28-210 from B.H. and it is nice and sharp. 169 dls and it took three days to arrive, you can go directly or through Amazon. I second Karl's recomendation, I bought the A200 with the 17-70 kit lens,terrific equipment! I have since added a 28-210 zoom lens and I am still under 600dls.
