For the return flight. can they just refuel with standard Jet A, therefore diluting whatever is left of the SAF? United flew a revenue flight with an entire side powered by drop-in 100% SAF, so I'd imagine they didn't completely clean out that wing before it went back into service. That flight was ...

Seems like yesterday looking on in awe at Farnborough when the 757 & 767 first visited us. 1982 I think when I was 14, with my dad and a pal from school. I remember thinking how odd they looked - they didn't 'look' like Boeings. Many wonderful trips on both over 40 years!!

Always wondered same! SOU is my nearest airport, can never figure that one out. Maybe they need to be over a certain altitude on approach to miss departing Heathrow stuff - so part of descent in the loop?

I only see 1 other mention buried in this thread - Jet2. The Airbus press release back in August gave an 'initial' order for 36 A321neo. They have 90 something in their fleet - all Boeing? Maybe a sizeable top-up - A220's would also make a great option to fly from more regional UK airports for those...

Just out of curiosity. Why do we always seem to see them peering out of hatches and doors when on the ground manoeuvring? Is it a US thing? Are they on a mic to the flight deck? Can't say I've noticed it on any other country's air force transport type aircraft.

I love these little A.net mysteries. Just a guess. When the outer section of the inboard flap extends, it gets pretty close to the engine nacelle. Could it be a simple pressure relief that diverts some that air through the exhaust when flaps are deployed? I would imagine without, there would be some...

IMO, if in the future an aircraft does end up in a ditch/ravine and this risk was not taken on board then the Airport could be taken to the cleaners. Well at least now the FAA and airport are aware. The airport is public ownership no? Bit different to here in the UK. Even if they didn't reconfigure...
