One of the image servers in the US died on us, that's why some images didn't load. The server has been up and running now for about 24 hours and everything should work fine. Sorry for the inconvenience.

This can happen in very rare cases as the mechanism that protects the "photographers choice" section from this issue is not implemented in the "top of last 24 hours", simply because it is so rare in that section.

As the date format is different in different parts of the world, I always try to use a neutral format that all can understand, for instance "Fri Apr 27 2007 15:13:20" instead of "2007-04-27 15:13:20".

Yes, we were down approximately two hours, this time it was cause by the cooling system. I am continuously testing the site in different browsers, I am writing this in Opera without problem. It is very difficult to pin-point exactly what is causing your problems as it does not seem to occur for most opera users. I am sorry to say we had a major crash with two central servers going down at the same time. Things should be back online again. I am working very hard to make the clusters more fault tolerant so that we will not have to suffer downtime in the future.

I am considering how to solve this. It's a cached version that needs to be updated. Problem is it needs to be updated for all photos and if the photographer has high number of photos it will take time and cause a bit of load.

If you are checked in ("You are checked-in as First Class Member Express1" at the top of pages), there's no ads on Airliners.net apart from the small ad on the frontpage.

There's been no changes to this the last week, so it is very strange that you experience problems that started recently. Saving this information in a cookie seems to be a too buggy solution, I will have to consider saving it on the server and in the session. It's not a good solution right now though...
