Re: Malaysia Airlines Announces Codeshare Agreement With British Airways (Finally...)

Think they leased a 747400 from MH for a short period in the mid 90's to operate as they didn't have enough 747400's on line at the time. 1995 comes to mind - as my flat mate was crew for VS and got sick down route in KUL. Sure someone can update us with more detail of VS service. I don't think VS ...

Re: Did Malaysia Airlines fly to Mexico, Argentina, Canada & USA in its heyday!?

Northwest planned on starting a 3 weekly SEA-KIX-KUL-CGK using the DC-10 (start date was planned to be 7/1/1996) but for some reason it fell through and was replaced by NW68/69 DTW-KIX-KUL, a 3 weekly 747-400. The KIX-KUL tag-on was discontinued in May 2001, can't pin down the exact date. Northwest...

Re: Did Malaysia Airlines fly to Mexico, Argentina, Canada & USA in its heyday!?

I don't recall there being a Taiwanese issue with traffic rights on the KUL- TPE sector for a flight continuing to YVR... Sounds odd. MH did not have traffic rights TPE-YVR but depended on codeshare partner CP to fill up that sector. Once the codeshare was terminated when CP merged with AC, it no l...

Agreed; then I'd upguage to a bigger 772. BA shifting from a B789 to B772 wouldn't be much of an up-gauge, but a change of the product mix. The BA B739 has a 8/42/39/127 configuration (total 216 pax). BA's B772's with the first class cabin are 14/48/40/124 (total 226) or 12/48/32/127 (total 219), s...

Sadly, it would appear that based on a random sweep of the non-US carriers serving Taiwan, a large number are appeasing China - CX, TG, MH, SQ, TK, EK, GA, KL, PR, TR, 5J, among others, are already using "Taiwan, China" in their booking engines. The airlines that are taking a more neutral ...

Here is the list: 1. Old cheatline livery with grey belly on one or two B737-800NG. To be retired if MAB can strike a deal with lessor to return them this year, earlier than scheduled. 2. All blue "malaysiaairlines" logo with two strokes livery. Some A330-300 and B737-800NG have this, in ...
