Will the 787 be moreso replacing existing 777 routes or be there for new routes? I can't see AA putting in the time and effort for a 787 base just for a couple routes. B78X may add 30Y seats over B789, but it also requires extra crew member. It is not sterile, then there is no point to do it, and it is not preclearance. It is more like one time only Global Entry which you have to do every time you board an aircraft. No it is not like ESTA.

Using automatic passport gate would be easier and simpler than this trial process.
