Damage is said to be 200K $ due to the engines being damaged.
Jump to postToday's Business Class has become quite comfortable. Suites and flat bed seats are standard. To top this a First Class seat must be even bigger and "waste" a lot of precious cabin space while some first class seats will not generate revenue/income but be occupied by travelling senior crew,...
Jump to postExactly, business jets have become so capable, and you don't have to own one to use it.
Jump to postKorean Air is already big. But Asiana is not adding that much more size and industry weight. What is the "competition" problem to unite the two? Why would this be blocked? It's not like AA and UA or Delta want to unite.
Jump to postWhat is the cockpit alarm for the pilot if the pressure drops? Is it just a warning light somewhere or a bell like an engine fire, something that can't be missed?
Jump to postWouldn't dark blue make the skin very hot when parked in the extreme climate the airline is based in? How about some brighter fuselage for heat control reasons? Could this affect the CFRP aircraft skin's durability?
Jump to postTo me this all sounds like a lot of hot air concerning their airline concept. Shouldn't aviation websites like the one linked above be a little better informed and sceptical before all those vaporware projects get reported as "hard facts" over and over again? We have an entire project mark...
Jump to postThere are many technical innovations waiting to be harvested: Flying wings or blended wing bodies for reduced drag, new materials for reduced weight and less installed engine power needed, robot fabrication for reduced production cost and higher precision, new cockpits or remote control for increase...
Jump to postShouldn't a new custom tailored airliner and wing design optimised for the current engines work better than on the only reengined legacy families of both A and B? Boeing could have topped Airbus with a mini 787. Still I am surprised how close the MAX performance is to the neo except for range while ...
Jump to postDoes this make any sense? A no name newbie airline buying a single A380 to shuttle over the Atlantic? I think not. Why not lease standard A330s or 767s if you want to go transatlantic? Much lower risk to fill, crew and operate. I don't see this happening. Do they maybe (mis)use the "exotic"...
Jump to postLanded this morning onboard a T7 right on this runway.
Jump to postThe big question is what future Russia will be like when this war is over? Could it split up? Would other parties bite off parts or take back stolen lands? In theory it is a rich country due to raw materials income - if somebody with hard currency is buying them. This money should be enough to make ...
Jump to postI think given the smaller diameter the Embraer E2 cabins are done quite nice, as in economy creature comfort benchmark, in terms of usable space per passenger and economy seat comfort. Bonus points for less struts below the "seat in front of me". Personally I like individual air vents and ...
Jump to postAll those new versions and cabin configurations (including "A's") seem to be made tail heavy. Possibly to save aerodynamic trim drag?
One day, Ryanair might end up with showers in the front for weight and balance?
I was responding to the end of the post right in front of me. The Germans recently abandoned nuclear power generation. However they still import nuclear power generated electric energy from abroad.
Jump to postThey abandoned it because no permanent storage for spent fuel could be found and because after Fukushima the public opinion didn't trust overall nuclear safety any more. Now they try wind, which generates surprising amounts of electric power. So much that the grid must be reconfigured to bring all t...
Jump to postThere must be billions of taxpayer money for all the "green" research. Enough for everybody to try reinventing the wheel in parallel.
Jump to postDelta seems to be short on aircraft until more new ones get delivered. Still, they manage to return to several European places.
Jump to postThe main problem will be the open ocean sea state. Add a high weight due to all the ferry fuel, and a float plane just cannot land safely, high wing or not.
Jump to postI have been on an "old" one as a passenger. The box shaped cabin diameter is surprisingly roomy if you don't need pressurization. I'd hope for more regional aviation offers again. This would be the aircraft to serve those routes.
Jump to postIt will be gravel runway capable if that is needed. I think this is much more promising as a regional aircraft than all those fancy battery powered concepts.Just take a modern airframe, wing, current turboprop engines, new cockpit, and you are good to go. Still, it might be on the small end for many...
Jump to postWhat is the list price? How much was the classic 328?
Jump to postDidn't they just receive fresh funding by their owners or creditors?
Jump to postBlue is sort of a national colour in Italy. The former royal colour.
Jump to postI hope for the rumoured return of the real Alitalia name and branding.
Jump to postThey want only 40 percent first but the full say from the beginning. Depends on whether the government agrees.
Jump to postThat will be VERY expensive. Where is all the money coming from?
Jump to postIt looks like beefing up existing aircraft types has become way more difficult. On the other hand, the MAX has finally passed current requirements. It IS still possible.
Jump to postIs this section 46 reinforcement / keel rework connected with the 777-9 static test failure, just before 150% ?
The "steal" might happen between airports as well, with passengers moving from legacy to low-cost airlines. Low-cost competitors might need to invest in their fleets for lowest fuel burn and costs to match FR. An old 737 or A319ceo won't cut it any more.
Jump to postThis order just had to happen. It makes perfect sense.
Jump to postI agree they will come back to Frankfurt Rhein-Main. From a competition perspective, I'd support more non LH-group airlines within Germany anyway.
Jump to postNo showers, only small galleys, no residence but just seats.
Jump to postWhen will the new 737-line at Everett start to assemble MAXes? This would be the right place for the 10.
Jump to postIf you think that you know that much more, why don't you just share your wisdom?
Jump to postThey painted "Auf Wiedersehen Lufthansa" on some aircraft as well.
Jump to postLH once had a pretty good low cost airline: Euroberlin France. A joint venture with AF using wet leased aircraft from the UK (Monarch). It was created when LH could not operate to Berlin during the final cold war years. Eurowings is too much at a time: Lowcost competitor, including internally, LH sp...
Jump to postIt goes beyound that and this is what I consider to be remarkable. They blame their "chapter 11" on the engine. I don't doubt it, but to hear the word spread like this in written form to the media IS unusual.
Jump to postYou actually think the P&W GTF doesn't have issues?
It is highly unusual to have the engine and aircraft manufacturers blamed in public. This should be stuff for urgent backdoor meetings instead. I wonder what is behind that? A bit like Skymark and the A380 back then, maybe? This didn't end well.
If the GTF has issues, we will hear more for sure.
Does this mean new T7X delivery delays might be coming up, and they need to order more "interim" seats elsewhere?
Jump to postI like Italian avant-garde design. The more futuristic, the better. However, Armani WAS conservative and elegant at the same time. Personally, Mila Schön is my favourite designer.
Jump to postBWBs are certainly a very promising concept to reduce drag, installed engine power and fuel flow. Much more promising than battery powered phantasies. Especially as flying wings can be perfectly controlled with fly by wire these days. I hope we see more flying wings including as passenger aircraft.
Jump to postThese rich guys ordering BBJs helped the program. Now their aircraft are valuable part donors. So it is not that bad and all is not lost. Still, some conversion facilities learned their lesson the hard way with VVIP aircraft customers switching back and forth, refusing to pay and such. (not necessar...
Jump to postI think that's a misunderstanding of the issue. The 787 is not fully FBW, although it has some elements of computer-controlled systems. Even the 737 MAX has a few controlled elements. The 777 was always a full FBW aircraft. The FAA certified the triple redundant systems, and accepted Boeing's analy...
