Considering the vast majority of their A380's are not flying, they would be smart to start installing this product on their newer A380's that are just sitting idle.
Jump to postBeautiful scenes of LAX!
Never been to LAX before but is there always so much traffic? I know the airport has the highest O&D traffic in the world but that many cars getting into the airport looks crazy.
Didn't FZ fly to DAC as well in the past? I think I remember reading about it somewhere. Yes, up to twice a day with a full Y config of 189. And flights were full. Those slots were given to EK as they could fill a 777. Maybe they were not making money, the flight must have been over five hours, no?...

It’s a known market for them, which has high volume and must perform well. No guarantees that there is higher yields elsewhere. The reason they pulled the a380 is because of low yield Not necessarily low yield, just not the premium volumes that could fill 9F + 80J. Canada is just not the market for...
Jump to postEmirates DXB to Abu Dhabi is 5 times daily, not “hourly”. The highways are not 14 lanes, rather 4 lanes per direction. So, does this mean that traffic is heavy through out the day? If so, is there any intent to build another highway? Secondly, does the highway from DXB to AUH pass through DWC? Ther...
Jump to postI'm surprised EK doesn't use FZ more to launch these destinations with less demand.

A bit disappointing but sadly, when you lose 20% of your traffic, it's hard to make up for it.

The cost cutting is clearly evident. That meal does not look any bigger or better than the same meal I had on Etihad last year. Only difference now is the removal of the starter and butter/cheese.

On highly competitive routes you need every edge you can get. The latest most comfortable aircraft can give you that edge. This is an interesting and sensible point. Though isn't somewhere like UK - UAE / Middle East considered competitive? Old 777-200 vs the A380s and A350s of the ME3 :? BA know w...

Jump to posthmmm, they can't even fill their existing 3x daily A380's. How do they expect to fill 5x daily? Especially with a shrinking network, this move doesn't make sense financially.

Jump to postThis news makes me feel sad. I loved the A380 and the aircraft has been instrumental in EK's success financially and for its brand awareness in the last decade. Also the fact that EK cancelled the A350 before (which was an order they revived steep discounts on as launch customers) and then now re-or...
Jump to postFinally some common sense at EY. Too bad the cancellation came so late after five A350's were already produced. Also strange that they are committing to a small B77X fleet.
Jump to postTo be fair, 3x weekly is pretty big deal for an airline like EK which prefers to serve the vast majority of their routes at least daily.
Jump to postI saw old links that STC retires by 2025, this will be a long transition. Related, I see EK has received the last 77W. Wow... As someone who actually flys the thing, I can tell you that it is most definitely not “always full” in fact the lead up to Christmas this year has been a disaster in terms of loads and yields. There are far more knowledgeable posters on here who can explain the difference between load and yield, al...

Jump to postVery tight race for #2. Didn't know ORD was ahead so far this year but LAX should overtake it as ORD traffic decreases in the winter.
Jump to postWow, that's amazing! And the majority of passengers are connecting as well...
AA might run a similar number of flights to LHR, but the number of passengers transferring to their partner BA is far less than DL and KLM.
Amazing. However with a runway closure/slowed growth at DXB, Daxing opening next year, and neither LAX, ORD, LHR or HND likely to see significant increases in traffic, ATL should remain #1 for the next few years at least.
Jump to postThey could have done it with only the B77W. The A380 works for them to airports where they are restricted by traffic rights or landing slots like LHR, CDG, ICN etc.Even their own hub DXB is slot restricted, and the A380's work really well since one wave of flights feeds another. But if they ever mov...

Choose well is an interesting slogan. But doesn't help with increasing EY's brand awareness though.
A strong rumour that Oman will order A350 over B787-10. And a gentle hint that some may come from Etihad's order. https://airlinerwatch.com/oman-air-plans-to-order-airbus-a350xwb-instead-of-boeing-787-10-sources/ What's the relationship with the Abu Dhabi family and Oman? Jump to postDoes QR really benefit from Oneworld? Never seemed like they really did, other than BA ofcourse (which they are a shareholder of so that's a different story).

Jump to postFrom where will they get all these pilots? EK and EY?

Jump to postMust be complicated for an airline with a sizable amount of connecting traffic to move flights slowly to the new airport.
Jump to postThe New Istanbul airport is huge and was built so fast which I personally think is an incredible accomplishment. Megaprojects of this scale always have their critics and almost always result in fatalities.
