When I was a kid in the 70s and 80s, the entire meal was served on reusable plastic materials, the salad, the dessert and the main course so not a big issue using reusable cups IMO.
Jump to postHis content is great! Thanks for posting, watched a ton from Ruairidh MacVeigh's channel and enjoyed them all.
Jump to postAbsolutely beautiful timeless, calming, modern design, almost back to pure modernism. Looks more like something out of Germany or Scandinavia. Love the materials and all the natural light! Well done!
Jump to post757s were super rare in in Canada, I can recall taking one flight on Canada 3000 in Jul 2001 YVR-CUN, I recall the only other Canadian operator at the time being HMY / Harmony Airways. I was lucky enough to fly one BA 757-200 leg, CGN-LHR in early 2005, super light LF, rocket take off, loved it!
Jump to postJust a quick wiki peek, states that 04/22 is just 6608' / 2014m and is used for general aviation so a very odd scenario indeed. Wikipedia also stated that "Boeing 737–400 of Corendon Airlines overran the short runway and ended up with its nosegear in the mud"..in 2010.
Jump to post-7C @ YVR this morning and another 10-15cm of snow overnight. Just checked the YVR website and the majority of arrivals and departures are cancelled for today. We're expected temps to go above 0C later today with snow changing to freezing rain. Tons of people wont get anywhere today but at least the...
Jump to postSo an A320 RUNS OVER an airport fire truck at speeds of a reported 129kt and remains relatively intact? passengers and crew safe! Congratulations Airbus for designing, and building such an amazingly strong airframe! I am gobbsmacked!! RIP firecrew Fully agree, a testament to how robust and incredib...
Jump to postAdditional aircraft coming online for both mainline and Rouge according to today's MD&A. 2 further A330's - one by the end of this year and one by the end of next. 3 A321's for Rouge - all 3 by the end of 2022. This is on top of the 789's, XLR's 767F's. 777F's, and A220's already announced. Any...

Jump to post15 additional A220 for Air Canada. https://www.airbus.com/en/newsroom/press-releases/2022-10-air-canada-orders-15-more-a220s-for-a-total-of-60-aircraft Great news, love the A220! Recently did an over 5 hour leg, YHZ-YYC on one, what a great ride!! Nice to see that AC is gradually migrating back to ...
Jump to postGreat update! The former typeface was dating the entire brand.
Jump to postHello Does anyone know why AC keeps replacing their MAX and A220 flights with the older A320 series? Been booked on a few flights now that got the downgrade. Robbie Got similar unfortunate news- about two weeks after I booked YYZ-MIA-YYZ for end of Nov I noticed that the outbound was the same A220,...
Jump to postGreat news! So much fun watching mainline airliners take off from MRY There's a small observation deck on the terminal and I remember watching big jets rotate immediately in front of the viewing area which is very close to the runway. In the 70s and 80s I remember United dominated with 727-100s, 200...
Jump to postPlenty here in Canada mostly on AC and on YVR-YYZ routes. Just flew a 787-9 YYZ-YVR Oct 3 AC 123 in biz, super nice having lie-flats and meal service on par with their international Signature Class, on a 4 hours domestic trip. I had just transferred from AC 897 ATH-YYZ and service and food was almos...
Jump to postAs a frequent YVR user, I am so done with this 1990's concept that began in 1996 with the opening of the new international terminal. Yes it's open, light filled and rather pleasant for departing passengers but looks totally dated IMO, those horrid chaotic lights meant to represent logs, awful green ...
Jump to postVery excited by this order! We certainly have enough MAX's in Canada already, the XLR will place AC head and shoulders above the competition in Canada especially with the lie-flat products in biz! Well done AC!
Jump to postI think the Sunwing brand will cease, although they've grown and matured a lot over the years, many of us Canadians recall their crappy early days of cheap marketing, reliability issues and super awful jingle 'sunwing-dot-ca' which translated to 'cheap 3 star Cuban holiday'. Fleet integration with t...

Jump to postAm I wrong to think that more people than ever want to get out of Canada due to the increasing covid restrictions? I for one hope that the stopping flights rumour is false. Totally false, link is no longer active. Would be massive news here in Canada. I'm booked to fly south on AC in two weeks, jus...
Jump to postThe first 763 freighter has entered revenue service earlier than planned to help BC with the floods. I believe it's FIN 634. Jump to postToo bad they didn't keep the Enerjet livery, it was fantastic, this livery is absolutely deplorable, I hope it's not the final.
Jump to postLivery has an EgyptAir feel to it.
Jump to postAbsolutely crazy to see passenger's priority being filming and fumbling through the overheads, I don't understand the mentality these days. I'd also be very curious to find out why the crew delayed the evacuation when many were screaming 'fire', seems totally contradictory to our survival instincts ...
Jump to postGreat report thanks!! Flown on AC's 190s many times, Breeze has not changed the cabin at all except for a big cloth panel over where the PTV was.. interesting that they were able to match the upholstery from 2006. All AC's 190s had PTVs in all seats including business.
Jump to postAnyone know when AC is resuming YHZ-LHR? I heard rumours of late 2021.
Jump to postAmazing thanks! Absolutely loved the design of the 1968 terminal, wish more of it had been preserved, it was absolutely stunning, perfectly symmetrical and had hints of a Mies van der Rohe influence in its architecture. Inside, not so much, very basic Transport Canada materials at the time. The orig...

Thought I'd never see this. Worth a shot in these times. Long flight. Interesting to note, unlike the US, there is a lack of end to end of country flights in Canada if you will One might understand that as a lack of population in eastern Canada. You don't get YYT-YVR, but we don't get Burlington, V...
Jump to postThe jingles, combined with the 'the friendly skies' and the Saul Bass livery always represented United at it's peak to me. Once things started to change United never got its groove back.
Jump to postDid TCA and BOAC at one time share the speedbird symbol? Nice to see it in the sky again! I noticed the Speedbird too, and looked up in Wikepedia (yes, I know...) but didn't find any mention about a TCA-BOAC link in the pages for either airline. Anybody know? I would perhaps guess that it was a nod...
Jump to postPeople are dying to travel again, I don't think seat-pitch will be an influencing factor moving forward, easing of restrictions and fares will play a much bigger role in getting bums back in seats.
Jump to postNot surprised about the MAX cancellations but am surprised about the A220 cancellations. I suspected AC would eventually cancel all outstanding MAX-8s in favour of additional 220s to suit lower demand on domestic routes moving forward.
Jump to postBest economy ( Wardair Class ) ever!! As a kid I was an absolute treat to travel on Wairdair YVR-HNL on their 747s. Nonstop trolleys of amazing food, many Hawaiian inspired dishes, served on china from takeoff to landing, free booze ( not for us kids ) and a colourful cabin... absolutely bliss!
Jump to postI LOVE the 330, just enjoyed a ride in Y on AC YUL to YVR. Absolutely the best Y experience along with the 767. If I'm flying in Y I always try and book a 330. ...and unlike some other posters I think she's beautiful on the outside too, great proportions, sexy looks. Long live the A330 and congrats ...
Jump to postI guess the option to divert to YHZ wasn't there due to the "Atlantic Bubble'. Anyone arriving in Nova Scotia must quarantine for 14 days, restrictions are higher in NB. They could have flown to YUL but at that point you may as well go back to YYZ.

Jump to postHonestly, pretty gutted that I won't get a chance to fly into TXL one more time. Had two "last trips" planned this summer through there. Jump to postTons of fond memories, especially loved flying on AC's 767-300s after project-XM 2006 when PTVs were added. Flew many times YVR-LHR, YYC-LHR also the old AC35-34 YVR-HNL-SYD before the 777LRs made that nonstop, most recently YYZ-CPN where we had a flap issue on approach and were greeted by some fire...
Jump to postHorrible plane. Has made Boeing lot of money and tortured passengers around the world. Noisy and cramped. Although noisy, the 'cramped' element was the result of most carriers going to 10 abreast. I remember Air Canada's 777-300ERs when they were new and 9 abreast, super comfortable ride, tons of p...
Jump to postOne of the issues here in Canada is that we have inter-provincial travel restrictions. All provinces require a 14 day isolation even if travelling from another province so domestic travel is likely affected to a greater degree than in the US.
