Re: TUS New 12R/30L Runway - Site Work Underway - Parity with SkyHarbor

Unless I'm missing something the two parallel runs are currently far too close for simultaneous landings, especially if instruments are required. And technically their usable runways no longer intersect, but their flight paths do. Nearly simultaneous take offs on the 11's and takeoffs or landing on ...

AA is adding a 3rd frequency on ERI-CLT this fall. This should help offset at least some of the recent capacity losses with UA and DL pulling out.

Re: The Rest of Pennsylvania (ABE/AVP/MDT/ERI/SCE/IPT/JST/etc.) Aviation Thread

With Delta and now United leaving Erie, what are the chances that another airline will fill the void? With its proximity to Buffalo, Pittsburgh, and Cleveland you'd think it would be an ideal hub for an ULCC. I appreciate the optimism, but I don't think a ULCC hub is realistically in Erie's future....

When you said "restrictive agreements with Canada", I don't suppose you mean the current agreement since it's completely open-skies now. So do you mean the old agreement back then with Canada forced US Air to serve Erie-Toronto (which would otherwise be unprofitable)? Interesting choice t...

I visit Erie a few times a year and I can tell you that the bus is not competing with the airport there. Further, a bus ride to either Chicago or Philadelphia is a full day of fun and adventure. There is more O&D to both than to CLT, however the highest demand out of ERI is Florida. CLT makes s...

Re: United Dropping Springfield, Il and Erie, PA

For Erie, is there any reason AA is serving it from Charlotte only now? It is way closer to ORD and PHL as AA's hubs go. You more or less just answered your own question. The shorter the distance, the more competitive that buses, trains, and/or private cars are; and thus the more pressure that's pu...

While I don't have a horse in this race, my perspective is that F9 and NK are true fare disruptors that other carriers hate competing against.
