Re: WN to Launch IAH and ORD service in 2021

I think the biggest difference between this announcement and MIA is these are two WN “hub” cities. Sure, someone in South Miami might fly MIA-HOU-LAS over FLL-DEN-LAS but is someone in the northern Chicago suburbs going to fly ORD-DEN-LAS over MDW-LAS? I don’t know but I see this as a different chal...

Re: WN starting service to MTJ (Montrose/Telluride, CO) eff. 12/19/2020

For MIA, I'm surprised they are adding TPA and not adding BNA. I'm also surprised they are adding 4x HOU, but nothing from DAL. Interesting choices. Not really surprising at all. TPA is a big station for WN and it offers a somewhat more relevant set of connecting markets -- it unlike BNA has non-st...

Re: WN starting service to MTJ (Montrose/Telluride, CO) eff. 12/19/2020

Not really surprising at all. TPA is a big station for WN and it offers a somewhat more relevant set of connecting markets -- it unlike BNA has non-stops to PVD, MHT, BDL, ALB, ROC, BUF, ISP, GRR, and MEM, while BNA has BOS and a large number of West Coast markets. DFW-MIA is hub-to-hub for AA and ...

Huh? There is no way WN would ever fly FLL-PSP. In fact, I doubt B6 will actually start it. I can see adding flights from cold places to PSP but why does someone from Florida need to go to PSP. Looks like LAX routes were in the cards to begin with. FLL-PSP is a warning shot at WN. The other adds are just to get people And planes moving and as profitable as possible. We will continue to see these adds moving forward. Every airline now has a Frontier dart board in their route planning office...

Re: Southwest launch service to Miami & Palm Springs

Assuming the Latin American gateway is done, I would not be shocked if FLL is trimmed to just ATL/BNA/BWI/HOU/DAL and maybe SJU a year or two from now. No need to fly MDW year-round either, that flying can be shifted to MIA. DEN/LAS/PHX can also be shifted to MIA. ISP is a bit of a niche route so i...

Re: Southwest launch service to Miami & Palm Springs

My thought is they are going to pounce on Cuba once it’s reopened. Keep HAV-TPA and 1x HAV-FLL but go all in on the now open slots for HAV-MIA. Initially though, my guesses are: 1x ISP (if they have any interest, monopoly on route...this could go to STL instead, though) Frontier flies Miami-Islip d...
