Re: Icahn Takes 9.9% Stake in JetBlue

Still, you own 9.9% of the company but you get 2/13 = 15.4% of the vote.... So, I'm guessing he plans to buy up enough shares to have 15% share (why else would the board have made the extra room on the board?). But to me, the board has already rewarded him with a disproportionate amount of control ...

Was there even credible demand to fly such a route in 1990 ?
In 2024, the only airports in Germany to have flights to South Africa are Frankfurt and Munich. Go back 34 years when long haul air travel was far less affordable... and I'm struggling to see demand for such a route existing

Can the manufacturer provide the long term maintenance support that Delta will need at the scale that Delta will need ?
Do Delta want to buy a niche type from a manufacturer they haven't used before ?

Perhaps Delta should pick something more mainstream... a larger manufacturer with greater scale ?

Your premise presupposes that there is only one overall "winner." But business is not a sports tournament. As long as a company is profitable, there is often no (or little) need to be "the best" or be dubbed "the winner" by whatever metric. In the U.S. market, yes, air...
