Progress update on the Concourse A expansion. After it’s completion, a few other A gates will be temporarily closed to update the nightmarish baggage system at BWI.
A "layover" is defined as a period of rest in between stages of a journey. Considering a "journey" from a passenger standpoint is quite different from a "journey" from a crew standpoint, it makes sense the same word is used to describe two different events. Neither is i...Jump to post
N302NV https://twitter.com/GoldenKnights/status/1171469546659577859?s=20 Good looking livery IMO. They join JetBlue, Alaska/Horizon, and AirAsia X as the airlines to fly the colors of American sports teams (I know several European and Middle Eastern carriers do the same for European clubs). Picture on previous page only showed 77Es and 77Ws. Assuming the domestic/Hawaii/Guam 777-222s are going to remain in the current livery pending replacement by A359s (which to be quite honest is a strange move unless UA wants to pull a JAL and have A359 domestic configs). When do the A350s come in?...Jump to post
I suspect that had the MAX not been grounded, the repaint process would've been much father along by now. How would that affect the repaint process? The "flex" in the fleet isn't there. From my understanding, aircraft are being removed from the fleet in standard maintenance fashion and a ...Jump to post
If I'm interpreting the Fleet Site notes correctly, N39297 (737-824) was scheduled to exit AMA yesterday. FR24 confirmed it flew AMA-IAH-MSY-IAH yesterday, with the last flights being revenue flights. Making good progress in the UAX fleet (all info https://sites.google.com/site/unitedfle ... n-progress ) :
Delta operates their long-haul configured 757-200s mostly out of JFK to DSS, LIS (year-round) and AGP, PDL, KEF, and SNN (summer seasonal). They also use them on BOS-LIS/EDI/MAN in the summer (the route you flew has been upgraded). From ATL, they go to BOG and UIO year-round and ANC in the summer. ...Jump to post
I wonder if they'll paint a Q400 in this schemeJump to post

I remember there being some sneak peaks earlier this summer, but here’s our first look at the whole plane. She’s a beauty. N651QX.

In other instances, particularly in the case of intersecting runways, they can be used to keep the touchdown zone and the "piano keys" away from an intersecting runway (I believe that is why 31L at JFK is displaced so much). Although the touchdown zone for 31R is right smack in the middle...Jump to post
Displaced thresholds (not to be confused with blast pads) can absolutely be used for takeoff distance. Perhaps the most notable example is SAN. The threshold for Runway 27 is displaced to keep arrivals above the hilly terrain. That terrain, of course, is not of concern to Runway 27 departures, so th...Jump to post
IMO for there to be a viable redeye flight there needs to be a minimum three-hour difference between departure and arrival times (local) so 00:00-03:00 or 01:00-04:00. We're lucky we don't see them even more often. A DFW-JFK flight could be 00:00-04:45 easily.Jump to post
Isn't HNL-Europe the whole reason Hawaiian had ordered the A358 then got switched to the A338 then ultimately decided on the 787? (I forgot which version, 8 or 9) I believe they originally ordered the A358 because it seemed like the natural successor to the 763 and A332, capacity-wise. I'm sure Air...Jump to post
IIRC..... United will receive 2 77W's and 2 78J's before year's end, so we'll have our first look at the new livery on a widebody jet. Can't wait :) That's correct! I also remember hearing painting will pick up again at the end of the summer so we'll start to see the rest of the fleet follow suit.Jump to post

TP is definitely on a hot streak in the last year or so. I trust that this is some pretty important network cleanup, getting rid of a bunch of underperforming routes. Could couple with more regional additions in addition to SCQ and the MAD increase. Quick note, might want to edit the title to 'drops...Jump to post
At airports where there's only one gate for a given airline, I'm sure it's in the briefing. When BA228 lands at BWI, they know they can go right to E1. I'm sure it's a similar situation at BNA, MSY, CHS, etc.Jump to post

Seasonal 2x weekly flight to LHR on BA 788? Would this route be better served as SRQ-LGW given its more leisure style? I don't even know. My comment was more for humor...
