So I understand at a high level why Canadian IATA codes begin with Y, but I'm having a hard time finding information on why, for example, Toronto is YYZ or Montreal is YUL. Vancouver as YVR (formerly VR) makes sense.

I think the recent letter from airline CEOs to the Biden admin is going to make an impact. I'm optimistic it expires with the federal mask mandate on April 18. It's currently my single biggest deterrent to international travel.

WN does fly LGA-BWI (don't know loads off the top of my head) but like nycflyer and IADCA said, the legacy carriers are on JFK-BWI for connection purposes. UA was doing EWR-BWI until a few years ago for the same reason. The train (or even driving) is just so much more convenient for people traveling...

That article is from 2009 with an estimated completion year of 2017, safe to say it won't be happening any time soon. As far as I know there are no problems at LIS so drastic a new airport is needed.
