Too sad to see how airlines are chopping routes all around the globe. In Latin America cities like EZE, SCL, GIG and MEX are loosing flights that opened new frontiers besides the traditional European and North American markets.

It's getting really confusing to understand Emirates plans for South America beyond GRU... time will tell, but as for now it seems they cancelled SCL, EZE and GIG for good.

Wow, hope them the best. Guess they will seek the more price sensitive passengers (VFR, backpackers, etc). Hopefully they will increase frecuencies in the mid term to be more competitive. Maybe Ecuador is next?

Those additional flights are due to January, when the grounded 787 are supposed to start flying again, according to Enrique Cueto.

AZ also flew to SCL from the ‘70s twice weekly until the mid 90’s. Then it resumed the route in 2016 and, as far as I know, it’s been a very succesful one.

Plus Ultra will axe SCL this year due to its financial problems and poor service, travel agencies in Santiago already stopped selling tickets from this company, so there is room for Air Europa to enter that market again.

I was given a sandwich while other passengers received a full lunch. Nobody asked me anything. Other passengers who were flying to EZE received a sandwich as well.

Not a good sign indeed. Hopefully they won't axe SCL, which was also launched in 2016. From what I know the route has been performing well both in terms of numbers and yields.
