I see a 737-800 through August to ORD. Is the update with the 175 to ORD being loaded this weekend? Looks like the 175 to ORD got loaded, but it's not all bad. The 175 operates from Aug 18 - Oct 26, then it goes back to mainline and then seemingly becomes *year round*. I have to imagine we will see...
Jump to postI am seeing today's inbound DEN-FAT due at 1:05pm circled for a while then diverted to BFL. After staying on the ground for a while at BFL it eventually took off and landed at FAT. I assume something related to today's storm.

Jump to postI think an airline starting MEX is almost inevitable with how successful GDL is. Looking elsewhere in Mexico, I could see MTY and maybe some other cities but other than that, I bet beach destinations like SJD and PVR would be on the horizon. This is probably a lot less likely, but maybe we see AC t...
Jump to postI was catching up on last week's City Council meeting. There were several items related to contracts involving the terminal expansion and the 11L-29R runway rebuild. Jump to postPer AA web booking, AA has added an 8:45 pm 321 to Phx on 5/23 only. Same add at SMF. Why a one-time? Testing a red-eye bank out of PHX maybe? Am I seeing it correctly? It looks like the A321 does a FAT-PHX-FAT turn (not the other way around). I'm seeing also on May 23 an A321 lv PHX at 11:16pm and...
Jump to postIf AA doesn’t increase PHX to where it was last year, could we potentially see WN jump in on the route? If they’ve been waiting for something like this to jump in, this is the time for them to jump in. Per AA web booking, AA has added an 8:45 pm 321 to Phx on 5/23 only. Same add at SMF. Why a one-t...
Jump to postSY to MRY is interesting also because when you try to book it as a package on the airline's website, they offer very few motels in Monterey/Carmel/PG. Instead there are hotels from Santa Cruz to Solvang with what appears to be the largest number in the Paso Robles/SLO/Pismo area. MRY to Paso Robles ...

Jump to postSounds like an interesting sight due to the diversions. Hopefully someone posts some FAT ramp pictures today. Lots of diverts into FAT today, including a DL 319 (LAX-SFO), United 320 (YYC-SFO), American 737 (PHX-RNO), American 737 (ORD-SFO), American 321 (CLT-SFO ), . So FAT finally got a nonstop CL...
Jump to postOff-topic but interesting. FAT will not be unusual among California airports if it reports double digit 2023 growth. Jump to postI will be curious to see whether there are any more summer additions as a result of these numbers. Jump to postPredictions for 2024? Here's what I think could happen, from most likely to least likely: 1) 2023 is officially announced as the biggest passenger year ever for FAT, eclipsing 2022 by at least 5%. If Oct/Nov/Dec 2023 were flat and only matched the same numbers for 2022, then 2023 would finish with ...

DAL instead of PHX or a DEN increase? Hhhmm. Maybe a small move further east for summer to respond to DL's ATL? Given some of the larger/older WN stations that still have no DAL route the choice has me wondering why that route for FAT.

Jump to postI assume this is a seasonal add. I’d hope AA does counter with CLT, but DL is such an afterthought in this market. With Mexico being upgraded to where new flight can be added, who will make the first moves? Y4 is boosting BJX in. 24, but that’s not “new”. Time for G4 and Viva to kick things up a no...
Jump to postCongrats to FAT on this one! Really been nice to see the growth there since I left the area. I think a lot of people have expected the airport to plateau at around 2 million passengers, but so far it's just kept growing. I'm guessing leakage has been reduced by quite a bit and there is now even som...
Jump to postI also remembered that this flight qualifies for the new service incentive. ATL was a priority destination in that program. DL will get up to 2 years of waived landing fees and up to $300,000 in marketing support.
Jump to postSBA on the 220 might be due to runway length too. The 737 is a bit of a runway hog; SBA's longest runway is 6000 feet. Even at (basically) sea level, a 737 full with gas for ATL and an alternate might have resulted in unfavorable passenger/payload limitations leaving SBA. But also, DL is adding 2X ...
Jump to postI just checked the ATL-SBA add also announced.
The ATL-SBA will be on 220-300. So FAT is being given a few more seats.
But the SBA route gets a slightly better schedule with no redeye turn. It will depart ATL at 7:23pm and depart SBA at 7:25am.
Here is the airport press release with more details.

They confirm it is a 737-800.

I'd include CIC/Chico CA in this. They've been without service since OO retired the Brasilias in 2014. (OO decided not to upgauge to the CR2.) I don't know if they ever had service to LAX unless it was CIC-based Pacific Express, but I doubt that. Pacific Express operated a same-plane CIC-SFO-LAX ro...
