Well, if the FAA doesn't certify the A321XLR, this is almost as serious as the EASA not certifying it. The US market is of big importance to the A321XLR.

I haven't read all posts but one deciding factor for KL is AMS planned/announced decrease in annual movements allowed. This is one of the reasons KL will use the A321NEO on European routes. This will añso be necessary for their widebody future fleet requirements.

Both Airbus and Boeing can win here if CI replaces their 77W fleet with the A35K and replacing their 74F's with 777-8 freighters. Boeing even ends up selling more airplanes to CI in this scenario but let's see what CI will decide of course.

Nice memories I have with my national carrier at the time. I made a stop in SJU coming from SXM on their MD80 a few times. One time we parked next to a Pan Am 727 and on the other side there was a TW Express Twin Otter. Nice memories.

That may be a lot in the current environment but during “normal” times, this route had much more frequency than that. I do believe that LI was 3x daily pre-Covid although at some point they did shift some capacity to BGI so ANU may have been 2x daily but it was definitely one of the busier routes. ...

Thanks for all the replies to my post everyone. All valid points. I also think the 787 will eventually be better as A330 replacement so KL can streamline their long haul fleet on Boeing aircraft alone, as I mentioned earlier. We'll see what they will go for later this year.

Sorry everyone, with the 777 replacement I meant KL's 772 fleet of course but you probably got that I think :) The 787-9 can indeed replace the A330 but that wouldn't that be too much range on the 787-9 compared to the A330? Range they won't really take advantage of when putting the 787-9 on the A33...

I get that the airbridge is incredibly loss making, but the GORTT will have no choice but to subsidize so its no loss to BW. Any loss the government has will have its affectcon BW which is fully government owned too. I don't think that absorbing losses by the government won't have any affect on BW ...

It is indeed too soon to be skeptical, no new airline will gain a lot of popularity in just a few months. It will take several years to see whether a new airline is going in the right direction. Becoming skeptical this soon is pure nuts.
