This trip was a bit of a redemption from last summer. Back in June 2023, I scheduled myself to fly a 777-200 for the first time between Houston and Denver, however, the flight was canceled the day of, and I was downgraded to a 737-800 :yuck: I saw the schedule when I had a week off work and a decent...
Jump to postI think at this point my Atlanta-Washington Dulles trip reports could almost write themselves, doubly so for the Thanksgiving visits. I saw these tickets for a good price ( < $300 ) in early July, so it was a while to wait, and several schedule and aircraft changes along the way. This was Monday-Fri...

A quick family function that was a down and back on the same day. My brother and I were traveling together for this. Our parents and a lot of our other family members were already down there, oh the joys of being retired. He and I met at Hartsfield very, very early. There wasn’t anything to do this ...

Jump to postWonder if jetblue is still interested in the xlr in light of recent developments of range reduction per European request The rumor I heard (weeks before this article came out) is that Airbus offered a good deal on 330NEOs in exchange due to XLR range issues and jetblue wasn’t interested. Who really...
Jump to postI can’t believe it’s taken me this long in life to get to New York City beyond changing planes, but here we are. This was Thursday June 15 through Monday June 19. This report will be way more stuff at the destination than planes. The flight up there was a roller coaster of emotion for me before we e...
Jump to postIf you don’t mind me asking, how much was the Denver-Phoenix leg? I’ve seen those Dornier jets around on my couple trips to Denver and they look like a cool score.
Great report!
What if we put the same concept on other tails? Not bad.
Flying just because, is there a better activity? Ok, perhaps there is, but it’s still enjoyable. This trip was supposed to catch me two new aircraft types and a new airport, but some of that went awry. I’m getting ahead of myself. Sunday June 4, 2023 was the beginning of this trip. I arrived at ATL ...
Jump to postOh that is good news then. At this point I usually try to fly the partner airlines but I fly to JFK pretty often so will be curious to check it out at some point... What about ATL ? No word on ATL yet. JFK and LAX are the trial hubs, given the competitive markets. I would think there must be plans ...

That should end all the 787 talk, unfortunate but expected. Its about time. For as long as I've been on A.net the 787s to DL rumor has just refused to die. First it was that DL wouldn't cancel the NW order despite all signs showing they didn't want them. Then after DL cancelled it, rumors started t...

I’ve had my eyes on the Acela for a very long time, as far back as the original Microsoft Train Simulator when it came out on PC (Jesus, I’m old :old: ). Now was finally a decent time to try it out, and doubly so since it’s on the way out. I guess you could say this trip was the best of both worlds....
Jump to postHere come the rumors UA will start a mini-Hub in Atlanta!!! what criteria says ATL will become mini-Hub? This trip that came together pretty last-minute. After Georgia finished off a comeback win against Ohio State, we had 4 tickets to the national championship game in Los Angeles. I took a gamble with part of this. From the beginning, most airlines were asking well north of $1000 to get to Los Angeles...

A return to the Virginia Thanksgiving, my favorite of trips on my favorite of holidays. We haven’t done this since 2019, so it was nice to be back for an extended stay. Our trip up there started early in the morning on Monday November 21. I used one of my Delta Amex companion tickets on my parents, ...

It seems like you make a lot of trips to Chicago. Is it for work, do you have family there, or do you just enjoy the city that much? Partially a coincidence, and partially a city I really enjoy. For whatever reason, Chicago is usually a pretty cheap city to fly to from Atlanta, so very often my new...
Jump to postI'm not a big spender by any stretch, but credit cards are a game for me maximizing points and value. I carry:
Chase Sapphire Reserve
Chase Freedom Flex
Platinum Delta Skymiles American Express
JetBlue Mastercard (the no annual fee variety)
Seems to be a good mix for me.
This is a nerd confession. I actually made a flow chart years ago describing my booking process. You can tell it's a little dated. My new priority these days is avoiding 737 MAXes at all costs.
This is turning in to an annual tradition. Our old bowling buddies who have since moved to Missouri and Virginia were bowling the USBC national tournament again. This was more or less a business trip. It was sort of a messy booking. My brother and I were on one ticket on my SkyMiles Amex companion p...

I have another trip in a week. I guess I should get cracking on this report. Jump to postThe whole reason I took this trip was to fly the A320neo. Mission accomplished. This was Monday June 6 to Wednesday June 8. This was me flying just for the sake of flying, although I did score a new aircraft type with the A220-300 on this trip. This was Tuesday April 5, 2022. For the low price of $105 on Delta and 5600 TrueBlue points, this seemed like a fun little itinerary for not much money. https://i.imgur.com/y1jBoI...
