Re: AC future routes out of YVR

Expand Pier D in YVR? Don't get it. I am flying around there regularly and find that most gates there are empty most of the time. I am just not under impression there is shortage of international gates at YVR. U.S. section though could obviously use some more room (and another lounge there). Last s...

Re: Toronto Aviation Thread - 2019

Interesting piece of info, as of the June equipment changes for AC, all but one 77W route will now be to/from YYZ, which is the most I have personally ever seen. The only 77W route that won't touch YYZ is YUL-CDG from what I can see currently. 77Ws from YYZ are currently running daily MUC, ZRH, AMS...

Re: Reason behind 12H+ AC recent delays from Oz?

Seems like it's just simply due to not enough planes. Instead of doing 2x YYZ-YVR-SYD-YVR-YYZ in 4 days, the plane did YYZ-YVR-SYD-YVR-SYD-YVR-SYD-YVR-YYZ by cancelling the domestic leg and a 12hr delay for one of the YVR-SYD-YVR round-trip. The same apply for MEL. Instead of running domestic/trans-...

Re: UA suspends EWR-DEL for two weeks from 4/5

Why is UA cancelling while AC is still flying? Flights (EWR-DEL vs YYZ-DEL) are similar in length... If you look at all DEL- North America flights none of them with the exception of AI's DEL-SFO at this point in time are operating as a nonstop, they all having to make tech stops. Re: Flair Air Cuts U.S. Routes

I believe the reputation for Canada to have high fees is somewhat undeserved, On a round trip, the vast majority come from the US side. That's what I've been telling people all the time. It's cheaper for people to travel to US destinations from SEA instead of YVR is purely because they evaded inter...

Re: Pakistani Airspace to remain Closed till updated: 5th March, with exceptions

On March 3rd, I was flying on AC045, the direct flight from Delhi to YVR, and our flight was rerouted to travel south around Pakistan with a refueling stop in Copenhagen. The original 14.5 hour direct flight turned into a 19+ hour flight with no option to leave the plane or to get food. The infligh...

Re: AC flights from DEL now via CPH. Are other North America-India routes affected?

Couldn't they fly the other way or would that involve additional China-Russia overfly rights? GCMAP routes DEL-YVR as not touching Pakistan at all. Indeed it would require additional overflight rights which they don't have. Avoiding Russian airspace might be possible with a stop in Japan or South K...

Re: Canadian Airports 2018 statistics

I guess YVR must have handled around 25,5 million passengers in 2018. We may find out in a couple of weeks. That's a bit too low. Last December YVR handled a bit over 2 million passengers, so 25.9 is pretty much in the bag. If December have the same growth rate as November (5.42%), then it'll end t...

Amongst other changes, from YUL, flights to FRA, NRT and PVG will be upgauged to 789, replacing the 788 that were in use this year. Re: Singapore-Vancouver: “Skyscanner Unserved Route of the Week”

Maybe they could drag YYZ into it and run YYZ-YVR-SIN like how the Australian service started at SYD... AC runs "high density' B777 out of YVR to HKG to make the economics work I think it's more like.. AC cannot obtain additional slot in HKG to add more flights, so they squeeze as many people a...

Re: YVR (Vancouver I'ntl) Airport Expansion 2037 Plan

From the presentation earlier this year, seems like YVR now favour remote stand operation. The plan is to build 10 remote stands in the east apron for US and international departures, and this is not part of the master plan. This summer there will be 4 remote gates for international and 1 for US dep...

8.4%, not 6.3% Uh? I calculated on the basis of 2016 numbers (22,284,496) being 100%; meaning 100% divided by 22,284,496 and multiplied by 24,166,122 (2017) which makes 106,33. An additional 6,33% over the previous year. 24,166,122 / 22,284,496 = 1.08443... so that's 8.443% increase. Your equation ...

Today, for example, there were 13 International departures from YVR just between 11:30am and 1:30pm alone! (11 to Asia, 2 to Europe). Odd that YYZ is so slow to respond to growth. Bad for 3:30am arrival at YVR, bad for 5:15am departure, and bad for people going from JFK and MNL to have a landing and take off in the middle of the night.
