Re: 737 Max: Boeing to pay $200m over charges it misled investors

2 years doesn't erase 22 years of cutting corners, bullying engineers and QA people and then driving home denial and deceit. It'll take some time for many to give Boeing and Calhoun the benefit of the doubt. Self reporting after decades of saying everything is hunky dory, you'll have to forgive us ...

Re: American Airlines 757 RB211 Engine Sounds

After listening to both videos, at the thrust setting, the buzz the blades make at that high of RPMs make it hard for average microphones to pick up the sound frequency as you'll notice in both videos, on thrust reduction, the buzz sound gets noticeably louder. No different than flying on an A321. 9...

I don’t understand what you mean by a change in sound. Are you saying that the engines today sound different than they used to, in spite of being the same engine on the same aircraft? Jeremy Exactly. To my last post, people who are outside making statements like this that they know nothing about are typical on A.net. What facts or knowledge do you have to assert that it’s not “out of choice”? TWA most definitely flew the L-1011s to HNL. I flew them in 1987 LAX-HNL-LAX. You also had American Trans Air that flew multiple L-1011s to HNL from the mainland in the 70's80s90s. Braniff had a schedule on the B747SP that went LAX-HNL-GUM-HKG and return. There were also short term players, The Haw...

I mean sure, but its so unlikely. You're throwing out unlikely scenarios to prove DL may get more A221s when the consensus is strongly that both DL and Airbus would want A223 sales. Maybe Boeing gives DL 788s for free, too. It was hypothetical and in my original comment, I referenced only the A220-...

Why would Airbus offer that? Airbus seems focused on the -300 so its probably most efficient for Airbus to sell DL more -300s, not offer deals on -100s. One never knows what an OEM would offer if they aren't asked. Delta is an opportunist, hence the Max 10, 739ER, end of life A321ceos, A339, A220.....

For how DL uses 717s the MAX7 would be better than the A319 - its lighter. Flights under 3 hours are mostly governed by weight. DL is obviously pushing for much more mainline and the 717 seems to still be the ideal choice for routes like ATL-CAE/MLB/AVL/LEX/CHA and DTW-CMH/PWM/SYR/CLE/MSN even compared to the 220 Only if you ignore fuel burn, and at $3.75/gallon, DL can't. There shouldn't be any incremental costs other than for training additional pilots and procurement of more standard containers as all of the cans designed specifically for the 767 will become obsolete. I do think UA will have no choice but to replace the 767s with 788s as there really isn’t another good alternative. In many cases, the routes the 763s and 764s are operated on can probably take the small incremental capacity without trashing the economics of the route(s). Moreover, one can probably...
