My all time favorites come from a time when jungles on TV ads were very common. You'll notice in these commercials that the music starts slow, and then cresendos towards the end, similar to an aircraft taking off. They were all very positive and upbeat. In the western US, we had some great MD-80 operators. Earlier posts mentioned Reno Air, Air Cal and PSA, but we also had regional carriers such as Hawaiian Airlines, Muse Air (they made "flying beautiful", since an MD-80 was very beautiful for the 1980's), Muse's successor TranStar, Fronti...

On April 20, 2003, I had a flight booked on Northwest from DTW to IND (NW Flight 1143) and then connecting from IND to MSP (NW Flight 503). ONT to HNL! A few airlines have flown the route briefly. United in the late 1970's (I think it might have been a DC-8), Hawaiian off and on a couple of times (once with an L-1011, and once with a 767, I believe), and ATA (with a 737) as part of their short-lived code-share agreement with Southwest. ...
