For some time now I have had the impression that only heavily edited pictures are actually published here. Photos directly from the cam, scaled down, sharpened and added with a little bit contrast have no chance for beeing accepted anymore. Last year some some of my pictures were rejected because t...Jump to post
Hi Paul, Thank you for your response. My comments indeed do not apply to vintage photos. Here are a few random examples where I think stricter screening could be applied (or at least considered) to ensure a consistent level of high quality standards. 1. Lots of distracting clutter (fence, ramp equi...Jump to post
Hello.. I purchased the latest Nikon 70-200 offering (70-200 f/2.8E FL ED VR) and I'm super pleased with it. To round out my lenses particularly for A2A shoots, I'm looking at a couple of lenses in particular: Nikkor 24-120mm f/4G ED VR & the Nikkor 24-70mm F2.8G ED I'm really teetering back and...Jump to post
Hello all. This is particularly for my fellow Nikon photogs. I'm noticing when I drop my shutter speed to pan or get good prop blur, I'm having an issue where the camera seems to alternate between blurring the nose and the tail. Here's an example, granted it's not the best quality but this is purely...Jump to post
Today I saw an E-4 doing touch-and-gos and doing some other slow flight/ pattern work with gear down at AFW while driving home from work. I was driving north on 35W to 170 when I caught a second takeoff right over head. :bouncy: I've seen trainers come to AFW for training flights many times but nev...Jump to post
There is a shot on the front page at the moment of some mothballed freighters where the main aircraft in the shot has the tail, engine and nose wheel all cut off. Blown highlights on the noses and generally seeming quite flat contrast wise. My question is is this allowed for those type of shots onl...Jump to post
Hello all. I'm a Nikon guy but one lens I've always been super envious of the Canon 100-400. What a perfect range for aviation. My go to is my 200-500, but the base of 200mm makes it limited when shooting photos of anything close, so I'm trying to find a decent equivalent to the 100-400. Does anyone...Jump to post
I have to side with Kevin here... I have a similar sky in the database. It's quite natural and generally occurs in the short period where the sun has just gone down so the sky is still lit up but with a dull washed out pink hue, or when the sun is going down but behind clouds. Here's that exact scen...Jump to post

You will need to shoot in manual mode, expose for the outside light conditions, then use fill flash to properly expose the cockpit. If you look at the panels at the very top, you can see what looks like shadow from the flash. Make sure the flight crew is OK with you popping a flash though. That's w...Jump to post
Hello all! I was just looking this fantastic shot by David Lednicer, and was curious if any of you have advice on how to take shots like this where you can properly expose both the outside and the inside of the aircraft simultaneously. I'm still learning a lot of basics about photography and have a ...Jump to post
Just my own personal experience, but flew 6 times in the last 3 weeks, and all 6 were completely uneventful and everyone was behaved mask-wise (AA/WN) and middle seat-wise (WN). A total non-event. Wish people weren't so horrified by the thought of flying right now.Jump to post
Ex Qantas 747-400 N953JM filed VCV-MCI 11AM - 3:34PM as N953JM. Despite all of the attention around VH-OEJ, this may be the final flight for a Qantas 747 (whether in service with Qantas or not). https://flightaware.com/live/flight/N953JM/history/20200730/1800Z/KVCV/KMCI I heard at least one of the ...Jump to post

https://imgproc.airliners.net/photos/airliners/9/6/9/6031969.jpg?v=v4fbe60ceeb8 Hello, I'm facing another rejection. Here's why your photo was rejected: - Contrast - Personal Message - Soft - Underexposed The Screener left a comment regarding this photo: "Backlit. Despite the spikes on both sid...Jump to post
Okay, I get you now. Just to clarify, it is the general blur across the frame rather than the aircraft being blurry that's the issue? I can see both sides to be honest. Since the subject is such a small part of the scene to have so much of the frame blurry isn't aesthetic, but at the same time the ...Jump to post
It doesn't look like it because of the way I cropped the photo, but my focus point was centered on the P-3, which is why it's in focus/sharp.. But with the lower shutter speed (1/250 in this case), that's why some other places in the frame are not quite as sharp and show signs of blurriness. Suffici...Jump to post
Hello all. I'd just like your thoughts on this matter.. I tried for a bit of a creative composition on this P-3 arriving at Dallas Love Field. It was rejected for: - Oversharpened - Blurry https://imgproc.airliners.net/photos/airliners/3/0/4/6044403.jpg?v=v47ad667f386 First off, let me say I complet...Jump to post
You can tell WN is doing the right thing by the sheer derangement people have towards the airline. Nuff said!Jump to post
Sorry for the last response guys, but thanks for your thoughts from before. I appreciate it! A couple of rejections that I'd like your thoughts on! https://imgproc.airliners.net/photos/airliners/3/8/3/6018383.jpg?v=v49c4c738c7a Rejected for oversharpened, common, and high contrast. Hello all! I have the NIKKOR 70-200 f2.8 and while I am quite happy with the quality and sharpness, they all seem to have a cyan/green cast on them. My 200-500 does not have this issue at all on the same camera body. Any ideas? Also, what's the best way to go about correcting this? https://imgproc.a...Jump to post
Hi Kev, You're talking about my photo which was added on March 22nd. On the priority guidelines, it says: - Priority screening is given up to 24 hours after the first photo was added. Was it in the queue within 24 hours of my shot being accepted? I know the screeners adhere very strictly to 24 hours...Jump to post
I apologize for the plug, but here's the AZAL bird taxiing in today for anyone interested! Anyone gonna try to get her departure? I heard conflicting information. One said 8 AM departure tomorrow (3/22) while the other said Monday morning.
I am not a screener but you have amazing pictures bro! I planespot at PDX too! Thanks buddy! I grew up in Oregon and used to spot there from roughly 2004-2011. Well guys, I gave up with the E-4B. My very good friend was 2 feet away from me so we did get similiar angles. Mine now has a "red cast" and is not passable. Hello. I am in need of assistance editing this photo of the E4B departing KFTW. I feel the rejection reasons I'm getting are a bit much considering it's overcast.. Can't always have those beautiful blue skies. Also, I'm noticing a trend that when I fix a photo per a specific set of rejection reasons...Jump to post
Thanks for the responses all.
To clarify, my goto lens is the Nikkor 200-500. I love it, but will be going to Hyakuri soon to catch Phantoms up close. The 200mm is too much for many of the shots, so have been looking into renting the Sigma 60-600 sport for the trip.
Holy hell... What is that.. 280 knots over the fence? ;) https://youtu.be/GJ2tfRyW4uQ Unless they survived a 2 second deceleration from 280kts, I'd say the video is sped up. I thought so too until I reviewed the control surfaces moving and when the camera falls and points upward in the cabin, the m...Jump to post

And currently happening again! In the case you're referring to the BA 747s, there were a handful of us up on the tower catwalk and we uploaded them that same night we got back to the hotel, hence why they both hit the page at the same time. Nothing overly suspicious to me that they got PC, consider...Jump to post
