Re: Australian Aviation Thread - October 2017

Now, who has written and performed a song called 'Quokka'? Might be one way to get a gig in Seattle... And a ride on a Dreamliner! Lol. Bunumuring Big opportunity here for the creative a.net types... compose and record a song called Quokka, get it to go viral on YouTube and who knows. Can't be that...

Re: Australian Aviation Thread - October 2017

Icehouse was indeed a cool thing, they played GSL twice in the hangar plus another song. AJ even joked that he was going to lease the hangers out for concerts It was the same set as they played at the delivery event in Everett, but that was an acoustic version – so glad that SYD got the full-on tre...

Re: Australian Aviation Thread - October 2017

Re DFW, its not a new route so not sure why it is listed there as I thought the statement said 'new' route. Really though any of the three would be great. Yeah, that puzzled a few people, the QF spin was that it's new for BNE. Agree that any of them would be nice for BNE folk but I'd rather see a n...

Re: Australian Aviation Thread - October 2017

So with the earlier brouhaha about the lack of impartiality re: reporting on the QF 787 from a certain site, an article from the same site with a less than glowing report of the premium economy seat: https://www.ausbt.com.au/review-qantas-boeing-787-9-dreamliner-premium-economy-seat Perhaps the aut...

Re: Australian Aviation Thread - October 2017

Hey guys, Any word on -ZNA's movements in the next few weeks prior to EIS on domestic runs? I've been given a list of the proposed domestic flights that GSL will fly but want to try to catch her for photography in sunny conditions before then. Cheers, Bunumuring QF PR told me she'd be doing a serie...

Re: Australian Aviation Thread - October 2017

Any update on the next OZ-USA route? Speculation is that it’s BNE - ..., but what are the dots? DFW, ORD, PHX, SEA? Announced at Seattle last week that the next AU-US route would be the first from the BNE 787 base, of BNE-LAX-JFY. The next US route will also be ex-BNE, with the cities shortlisted a...

I was Head of Business Development at what I'll call a "travel provider" for 7 years until I moved on 4 years ago. So I'm really well informed! Without doubt you're well informed about the travel trade market or whichever publishing channel you dealt with, but that example and your experi...

Re: Australian Aviation Thread - October 2017

You'd need to do a fair amount of searching to find 5 AusBT articles in the last 12 months which stray far from the press release. I'm calling bullsh*t on this. We strenuously avoid the PR copy-paste routine because it adds little value to readers and indeed impacts SEO... you'll far more likely fi...

Re: Australian Aviation Thread - October 2017

but would you have gone if Qantas had said "We have an event in Seattle for the launch of the 787; you are invited to attend but must make your own travel and accommodation arrangements" We'd not have gone because we have no budget for that, and I'd wager that few if any other media would...

Re: Australian Aviation Thread - October 2017

Considering you felt the need to jump on and defend the site says a lot. Only says that I care about setting the record straight against mis-information. QF may have not paid as much as some of its industry peers for column inches And I'll say it again – nobody pays anything to me or AusBT for 'col...

Re: Australian Aviation Thread - October 2017

Lets call the A380/A330 fleet one step change in QF, and the 789 another (JQ is probably another one there too btw, but not JQ and the 788). What is the next step change that we think that QF is going to have to deal with? The 737NG replacement, the backbone of the domestic fleet will need replacin...

Re: Australian Aviation Thread - October 2017

Well to be fair, the TV networks, Fairfax NewsCorp, AusBT and a few others were probably paid very handsomely. QF are getting the money's worth that's for sure. Inaccurate and ill-informed: Qantas definitely didn't pay AusBT a penny for this, not any promise of ad campaigns or anything else. It's s...

Re: Australian Aviation Thread - July 2017

Any ideas when QF will announce their domestic 789 flights? Right now you can book the MEL-PER leg; expect to see the QF 789s running on domestic routes throughout November, and not just the triangle but all over the shop including a lot of transcon flying, as drop-ins for regular services. Not yet...

Please understand that I'm not trying to be snarky with this comment, but for your information the IATA code for Badgerys Creek is SWZ. Quite so. Now let's hope it gets a proper name: not Western Sydney Airport or (shudder) Badgery's Creek. IATA and airlines will now need to differentiate between t...

Just in: Qantas to (re)start direct flights between Melbourne and Tokyo/Narita from December 16, running daily on an Airbus A330, with Jetstar axing its MEL-NRT service and handing the route over to QF from late Feb 2017.
