IIRC, you are only supposed to buy Duty Free items when leaving a country, not transferring. In the USA, they even ask, is Turkey your final destination? That could be the reason. Not sure their reasoning but yes, it is more profitable to send smaller aircraft, especially to these very short distances. Not only the overall cost but turn around times.
Cargo is another issue.

Yep, as I was saying only few days ago.... Why is TK flying to LAX and MIA where infection rates are rocketing and not flying to JFK.
TK suspends LAX and MIA till July8th. I have a feeling that, this will get extended for months and other US destinations will follow :(

Yep, looking at flightradar, I just saw Hamburg, Rome, Cologne flights land on 34, Igdir and Ankara flights land on 36.
Oh by the way, that ESB flight had to do a go around.

Do you guys know what is the deal with the TK's JFK-IST flights?
Supposed to start on July 1st (5 x Weekly), when I try to look for fares, it says, flights don't exist.
So, I tried IAD-IST flight one-way and it is $1700. One way Y.

Not sure about London-IST, but if they are in a hurry....there were LGW flights to AYT and DLM today, in the air.
About the loads, maybe someone with expertflyer.com subscription might help you.

Well, this is strange: TK had 4 x 787-9s at KPAE waiting to be delivered. TC-LLL, TC-LLM, TC-LLN, TC-LLO. Turkish Minister of Transportation said that during June 1st-15th, 1 Million pax flew in Turkey, mostly domestic.
Not for comparison, but US had a milestone this past week also. On June 11, 2020 US daily pax numbers reached 502,209 for the first time since the beginning of the pandemic.

MeCe, actually, TK announced that they were starting EWR long before the pandemic. But you are correct, they did not like the initial slots they were given, but eventually settled on similar hours and put out a schedule to start in May, last month.
