I know when I lived in Wellington and family went to the UK the hassle factor of transferring in Auckland with such a long trip just made it that much worse. It’s a mental thing in some respects, anxious about the long trip ahead or exhausted after a 24hr plus trip with the need to get on yet anothe...
Jump to postHi all, I rarely post comments on here (as you’ll be able to tell) but I thought with talk about Wellington and international flights you might like some historical info. Jump to postI guess as another Kiwi member I should put my 2 cents worth in! I can’t see any need for another airport – crazy idea. I like the International terminal at AKL, expect I agree there seems to be a bit too much emphasis on the shopping side of things. I’ve traveled through at all ho...

Heres a question for anyone that's used the self check-in system, can you pick the seat you want, or do you have to take what the machine spits out at you?

From this mornings NZ Herald Qantas a done deal? Not quite 31.10.2002 By CHRIS DANIELS Is Air New Zealand's talk of actively exploring alternatives to a deal with Qantas mere empty bluster or sensible strategy? Aviation industry analysts are divided on the significance of the revelation at the airli...
Jump to postCould Virgin Blue spoil their party and say they dont wan't to move into Trans-Tasman and New Zealand domestic operations 'at the current time'?
Yeah sure, but it would be nice if they reported facts rather than their opinion as fact.
The lay person takes them at their word, which can also have a negative impact on an airlines financial performance.

Starflyer - Did you really have a booking with NZ for February, I am doubtful, how much did it cost you to change airlines? Anyway why change on the basis of an engine failure? What about the SQ 744 accident not so long ago, did you change from SQ to another airline after that? Incidents/accidents c...
Jump to postWhy would anyone wanting to get from AKL to KUL or beyond want to go via ADL? It's bad enough having to stop in BNE, wouldn't the trip be even longer if they sent it via ADL?
It's like the old BA flights that use to go via PER to get to SIN from AKL, grief!

And this stunning peice of reporting from www.stuff.co.nz I'll let you draw your own conclusions.... Jump to postI'd say you got someone other than a call center rep, maybe a cleaner or the like? The crew were new at Sydney, of course, they were doing QF2 that morning, then QF 9 the following day to SIN, then QF 9 onto LHR the day after that.
Hi everyone A quick trip report for those of you interested. Sat 30th AKL/MEL QF 34 0625/0820 B767-300ER (VH-OGE) Arriving at AKL airport about 0515 I checked in at Qantas checkin area dedicated to P, J and QF club passengers, check-in was quick and efficient and I was given 3A for the flight to Mel...
Jump to postThe NZ Government will always step in and save Air NZ F27, the political fallout of them not would be to great. Jump to postIt does seem odd to me they need to get new planes with the way things are at the moment. Whats wrong with the 733's, they are far more comfortable than the QF 733's over here. Still, I wont mind flying on them if they do get them! Jetkid <img src="/discussions/graphics/smile.gif" ALT="Smile">
Jump to postI saw a piece last night on CNN where the camera-person had found a tiny gap between a door and wall and was filming a man with his head in his hands, obviously a family member of one of the passengers. Is there any legal reason NZ couldn't stay in Star if QF took a stake in them? What would the rules be there I wonder, anyone know? Jump to postI'll miss the in-flight meals on NZ, as they were streets ahead of QF in J or Y, even when you compare them to the trans-tasman offerings QF provide. Jump to postHi B-HXB I've flown QF at meal times AKL/CHC/AKL (down on the breakfast flight and back on the dinner flights) and you get a snack box on both flights. How bout Auckland NZ (AKL) to LHR, via LAX, about 27 hours if memory serves. As a flight it might not be the longest non-stop but it must be one of the longer ones with the same flight number. NZ2 is the return service, also about 27 hours, again via LAX.
Hi Al, In answer to some of your questions, It would seem that the Labour Government we have here is looking pretty good to win the next election at the moment, which is next November. Wirraway, I assume your kidding! QF's service in New Zealand to date has been shocking, traveled with them last weekend and I wont be going back, regardless of price. I don’t know how long it is distance wise but for a regular scheduled passenger flight Air New Zealand’s daily AKL-LAX-LHR (and return) service is pretty long. 24hours plus traveling!
Hey thanks for that, very interesting. NZ wont grow with a QF shareholding and competition ...
