Flew in from FAO last night on the EI497 and was absolutely amazed to see a large enough queue of people already waiting for EI checkin to open at 0215 this morning. The first flight from T2 was at 0505 but it was still a bit of a shock.
Jump to postThey’re not IB crew, they will be BA crew hired through a local recruiting agency. Nothing illegal with that, so I’m not sure what you mean by getting around employment laws? I’m more shocked they got it past the union, although that’s not what it once was. Well actually the union has perhaps got i...
Jump to postHow are they getting around employment laws? IB crew based in MAD will work MAD/LHR and then one of a few patterns from LHR and back to MAD but will be on BA aircraft along side LHR based crew. I understand AY wet lease, their aircraft, their crew more or less their everything. They’re not IB crew,...
Jump to postOut of curiosity, does anyone know if the congestion is as bad at T2 as it is at T1? Most of the media reports seem to be only covering T1!
Jump to postReally no excuse for this. This step up of travel has been planned for months so there should have been enough time to recruit staff. The ID delay has also been flagged for quite a while so should have been factored in to lead times. Plenty of excuses available unfortunately. The world is short sta...

Jump to postJust got an advisory message from Ryanair saying there are security delays in T1 and to arrive 3 hours before the flight (I assume it’s DAA understaffed again) has anyone been through T1 in the evening recently? Surely it couldn’t be too busy at 7:30pm. On a Friday I would well believe it especiall...

Do we have any understanding how the Russian sanctions are impacting Aer Rianta International and their Moscow operations?
Jump to postI'm flying to London on Monday with EI; delighted these last restrictions are now being lifted. I am only taking hand luggage; the option to take the bag on board was unavailable, possibly because it may be a full flight. However, as I will have my camera in my bag, I'd rather avoid checking it in ...
Jump to postThe update in that article says that he didn't, and that he's still the CEO.... Who knows? Thanks for the update. Just really curious as to why he would become an economic exile. No doubt one of many as the sanctions come into effect. Well, let's just assume, for now, that he's still in Moscow and ...

Jump to postBA definitely handled this better than AA but I can’t really fault AA under these specific circumstances. Peanut allergies are not to be taken lightly but waiting until you get to the check in desk the day of your flight is a bit late for this type of notice. I don’t want to “blame the victim” but ...

Jump to postVueling appear to be keeping DUB/ORK-ORY for the summer. Cork goes to x3 weekly. BFS not available. It's a bizarr...
Jump to postIll tidy a loo during the regular security/safety checks but I wont “clean” a loo, after all I am also a food handler and lets face it, unless provided with appropriate cleaning attire I dont think most of my customers would appreciate cross contamination!

Jump to postMy only glaring memory of TWA was around 1989 flying First Class from JFK to MCO or MIA, cant quite remember. A rather haggard FA came trundling down the aisle soon after the doors had closed shouting “Want your munchies now? If y’all dont take’m now you wont get’em in the air”!!!!
Nice airline!
Now that the UK is out of the EU, how would such a move affect the pax experience on flights to the continent, whether from LHR or elsewhere? No change. The UK was never part of Schengen so security & passport control are unaffected. Correct, the UK was never part of the Schengen Area; however,...
Jump to postI don’t think they are mulling/threatening anything. I think a pragmatic point is being made that if it gets to the point where charges at LHR far outweigh the benefits of operating a hub & spoke operation the group could look at better ways to operate that side of the BA operation away from LHR...
Jump to postWell at least if they decide to jump to Oneworld they wont have to do much for a logojet.

Jump to postThis is rather an exciting potential development. Lets face it lots of great aircraft have falling by the way side in the attempt to make air travel more green and efficient. Jump to postNot that I business travel is where it was pre pandemic but the last DUB-LHR flight with EI for December is currently 1740! Swedish airline, Amapola Flyg, seems to be selling the Donegal PSO route on their website. https://www.amapola.nu/ Looks to be twice daily from 26 July with a Fokker 50! Wow…thats out of the blue. Jump to postAnyone who has worked any length of time on the B747 will tell you how notoriously bad the cabin became in hot airport conditions. Even when plugged in to ground AC systems you can be guaranteed that the area between doors 3 and doors 5 would become hotter than the sun.
Jump to postSo ,when this happens is it a sudden and rapid collapse to the ground, or does the aircraft gently descend, assuring minimal damage to other areas like engines and nacelles ?
