PTY-SFO is a little longer I believe...
So AFAIK Copa's longest 738 current routes are: SFO, EZE, ROS, GIG and SCL, all over 6hs.
A more interesting question is how the emergence of long range narrowbody aircraft (like the A321NEO XLR) will effect Copa's hub operations. I can imagine that at some point in the future many routes won't need that stop in PTY when flying between South America and North America. Please correct me ...Jump to post

***If considering MIA and FLL as the same city, I add also this pair to the list***
I think a hub in Senegal or nearby could take big advantage of the A321XLR to connect South America with Europe, similar of what COPA does.Jump to post
It depends...in beauty, nothing can be compared with the beautiful 727...but...
In configuration for a widebody, I love the 2-3-2 of the 767
And in pax. comfort, best experience had in an 787

In South America, I strongly dislike GRU...connecting from international to domestic or viceversa is a pain...bad signage, lonk walking, rude staff...
On the other hand, SCL is my favourite.
Passenger service on 747 in MVD is long gone...As far as I can remember, last 747-400 operator was KLM somewhere in the 90´s. We ocassionally see freighter jumbos but not scheduled...Jump to post
AR1457 from Salta to Aeroparque was the one diverted to Montevideo. Here in MVD, we usually get international diverted flights from EZE, but it´s not too common to receive a domestic argentinian flight when other options are available. Maybe low on fuel and expected delays at EZE...who knowsJump to post
This is an aviation website...so I think it´s ok to question if Venezuela needs a new and better flag carrier...the other (big) problems that Venezuela have are not to be discussed here. In my opinion, Caracas (in other circunstances) has potential to compete with other hubs of the region (PTY,BOG) ...Jump to post
I do love aviation, however, I suspect that if I have to fly every week/month for business, fliying should be more a pain than an pleasure... I can confirm your suspicions, travelling very often for business is more a pain than a pleasure. If you love aviation then it becomes less than a pain but n...Jump to post
I only do one or two leisure trips per year...not business flying at all...the amounts of flights depends of how many connections should I do...in example, in March I´ve booked MVD-GRU-LIS-MAD-FRA-MXP-LIS-POA-MVD because a very low fare I´ve found...those are 8 flights for only one trip... I do love...Jump to post
Safety is a vague concept. It depends in your point of view. The most safe thing can fail, and the most unsafe thins could work well for a lot of time. Insel and Aruba Air are very safe compared with driving a car. But compared with US or EU standards, maybe not. I´d chose to fly any airline rathen ...Jump to post

Hi guys, Thanks for your responses. I was not aware of TACV as it`s an unheard airline south and west of Brazil. I agree that this airline has options to grow but they need the right aircraft and a bigger airport. With the 757 or the A321NEO LR they can´t reach Buenos Aires, Santiago and Lima, in ex...Jump to post
I´m just wondering the possibility of an airline choosing an airport and create a hub wich works in similar ways than the Copa model in PTY, but connecting Europe with South America. Is it feasible? Which airport can suit this airline? And which aircraft/s?
According to Colombian authorities, the flight plan that they received was different from the flight path the airline actually took. According to flight plan on file, lamia was suppose to be coming from Cobija, but it instead flew straight from Viru Viru. Astonishing. Who is in charge of sending th...Jump to post

This accident was anything but bad luck.
This accident also affects me a bit - the first time I flew in a jet airiner, it was either a RJ85 or a RJ100. should this small confusion made the difference between making or not making it over the top of the hill? IMHO, that's one of the smallest issues here. ATC didn't have the full picture any...Jump to post
I don t want to diminish the blame to the pilots and the airline management (which in fact turned out to be the same person). But if the flightplan that leaked to the bolivian press is not fake, it is pretty clear that the air authority @ Bolivia was also in fault for giving them the clearance with ...Jump to post
Wow...with the flight plan in sight, I can see something bigger than to blame for this only to the pilots and the airline. What about the Bolivian authorities? With all of those queries on the FP, why they did approve it? Why they were allowed to take off at all...I think even in Vatsim network that...Jump to post
