Pretty sure any short-term improvements are from Munich Airport International now managing Terminal A and the new Terminal One. Anyone who has ever been to Munich knows they know how to run an airport 1000x better than the PANYNJ. It’s modern, clean and extremely efficient. https://www.munich-airpor...Jump to post

1.75 million square feet for 15 gates is extremely spacious. Much better than existing terminals.
I'm sad LAX expansion is on hold. It's not on hold. Per DL it's been accelerated. [quote="lightsaber"] And per the May board meeting at LAX, they confirmed Delta would expedite T3 construction. Basically the phase that was supposed to begin in 2021 that includes reconstruction of the west...Jump to post
Why keep the Terminal A headhouse? I believe they are keeping it, temporarily, due to the Airtrain. I believe they are worried about tearing down a building that the increasingly fragile Airtrain runs right through. They're going to keep it until the Airtrain is replaced, then both Terminal A and t...Jump to post
It looks good. I love using EWR because their locations. Hopefully this project became a big success and they would considered updating other terminals as well. No matter how you slice it, EWR is a garbage airport. Having B6 making a hub in the mix will be better. Terminal B at EWR really isn't tha...Jump to post

I believe it will be demolished to build the first phase of Terminal 2 (to replace Terminal B). But this is being studied now. No architectural plans have been released. Well looks like JFK Terminal 1 is going. They closed on $7 billion worth of financing.

Not sure how to get around paywall.
What happens to the current terminal A? It isn't clear after some Google search. Those "bulbs" seem to be eliminated, but what about the main building? I believe it will be demolished to build the first phase of Terminal 2 (to replace Terminal B). But this is being studied now. No archite...Jump to post

Just to stir the pot.
Lol. I’ll add to that. JetBlue’s COO mentioned last week that B6 was eyeing an expansion at EWR following the opening of the new terminal.
Some great photos and story on Newark’s Terminal One. I was thinking it was not going to be that nice but the progress photos look great.

EWR Terminal One construction never stopped, and is progressing for it's initial opening late in 2021. https://www.enr.com/articles/49638-newark-airports-terminal-1-starts-spreading-its-wings Looks great. With a new AirTrain and eventually Terminal Two, Newark will be a much better airport.Jump to post

Any news on when LaGuardia Terminal B head house will open? Also, most of the capital projects were not being paid for by the PANYNJ. At JFK, they were contributing $1 billion compared to $17 billion of private money. I think they are using capital projects as a way to get federal money for their ex...Jump to post

Wonder why Delta went with no bridge-over-plane-under concept like the other side of the airport design. Demand will eventually return. Even in the epicenter of the coronavirus in NYC, people are getting out again and phase I of the reopening hasn’t even begun yet here. Let’s hope the “temporary” Phase II/MSC South At LAX is canned and they eventually just continue with building out as originally planned when demand returns. LAX isn’t going to be bursting at the seams like it was when they decided on that temporary structure.Jump to post

It is really a shame that Terminal 1 is being demolished so young. It is a shame but the JFK terminal situation has changed, Terminal One was built by AF, LH.
