Swimming Pools In Airliners

Well, as far as the implementation of a swimming pool is concerned... You will never see this in a commercial airliner but... Lufthansa Technik of Germany which among other things builds VVIP-Interiors for airliners has something like this on their website: <a href="http://www.lufthansa-technik.de" ...

All The World's Money..

Well, I doubt that there is so much money in the world. As far as I remember, the Forbes magazine stated in it’s actual list of the richest people in the world some time ago, that all the world’s billionaires (a few hundred, including the Saudi royal family which is to be sued) own a combined fortun...

Airbus Corporate Jetliner Based On A340-200

Recently Airbus announced the launch of a new corporate jetliner based on the A340-200, named “World Ranger”, obviously reminiscent of the A340 that broke numerous world records! Does anybody have more information about the project? Thank you. A380-700R <a href="http://www.ainonline.com/...

GDB And Sultan Of Brunei

The aircraft you were talking about was really designated A340-8000, because of the range of 8000 nautical miles. It entered service in 1998 but the sultan did not sell it. He sold two others of the four (!) A340-200 derivates he originally owned. He kept the newest, the -8000 and got rid of an 1993...

RE: A320 Etops

On the Airbus homepage ( <a href="http://www.airbus.com" target=_blank>http://www.airbus.com</a> ) you can find a special ETOPS-page in the A330/340-section. Here Airbus points out that "all wide-bodied Airbus twins (A300-600, A310 and A330) are type-certificated to 180 minutes and all A320 Family a...

RE: SonicCruiser ETOPs/Cruise Height Curiosities

The ETOPS rules are defining the flight-time under the conditions of one-engine-out (which of course is the reason for all this) and I think the SonicCruiser won’t travel much faster than other twins with only 50% power left. Therefore I wouldn’t expect a great advantage in the distance ...

RE: Hypersoar Aircraft

One of the most comprehensive articles about the HyperSoar-Concept I found on the web so far can be read here: <a href="http://www.firstscience.com/site/articles/hypersoar.asp" target=_blank>http://www.firstscience.com/site/articles/hypersoar.asp</a> In summary, it is expected that this kind of airc...

RE: The Ultimate BizJet... What Would You Have?

Since you excluded conversions of large airliners I would have to think about a replacement for my favourite aircraft, an A340-500. Although it might be as realistic for most people to buy an A319CJ, BBJ, GV or Global Express for $50 Million as buying an airliner for $250 Million (including Sultan-o...

Takeoff-field-length For Airbus A340-500/-600?

The new generation Airbus models will have much more powerful engines than the old A340-200 and 300. Does anybody know how this will affect the takeoff-field-length of the new aircraft? Will the required runway length be shorter because of the added power or will the increase in thrust be consumed b...

Thank You WorldTraveller!

Thank you very much WorldTraveller! This was exactly the information I was looking for. What a modern and well-designed flight deck. It must be an excellent place to work.

To answer your question, I live near Wiesbaden.

Jet_lag

Greetings Mr. Jet_lag! I joined this forum just recently but as far as I understood its purpose, it should be a platform for aviation enthusiasts, amateurs or professionals, to share their opinions and discuss different points of view. I wasn't aware that I started a "flame war" by pointing out my p...

RE: Sonic Cruiser Fuel Consumption ...

Hmmm. Interesting thought M27. I read in various comparisons of airplane data that there was a decline in the Mmo and cruising speed of the Boeing 747. But since I'm not a pilot I really don't know how fast it can go exactly. Perhaps a real pilot can verify or refute this point. But if the current g...

RE: Sonic Cruiser Fuel Consumption ...

I think that Boeing will have to prove that they can build a plane that is cruising at Mach 0.98 and does not consume more fuel than an Airbus A330/340 which is cruising at Mach 0.82. (Or is Boeing referring to other "current generation" planes which have been designed more than 30 years ago?)  ...

Airbus A380-700R Comparable To Boeing 747SP?

Despite the fact that the first flight of the 747SP took place more than 25 years ago, the specifications of this aircraft still look very impressive. The Mmo of Mach 0.92 is unmatched and the range of nearly 14,000 km can compete with the longest range airliners of today. But most remarkable to me ...

New Cockpit-Design In Airbus A340-500/600?

I heard that the cockpit-design of the new Airbus A340-500/600 will include several technological improvements over the current A340-200/300 flightdeck, like LC-displays instead of the old CRTs or a taxi-camera similar to the system of the Boeing 777. Will the displays be larger? Does anybody know i...
