Re: Luanda in the 1980s/90s

BALKAN Bulgarian Airlines also had flights to Luanda during (first half of) the eighties. Equipment usually Tu-154. Routing SOF-MLA or TIP-LOS-LAD. Those flights were less than weekly and in later days this route was discontinued and passengers were transferred via SXF on Interflug.

Re: Bulgaria Air 737 at Sofia

Bulgaria Air Embraers were wet-leased by Air Italy on certain routes. You could have seen them because they were indeed Bulgaria Air planes, but with IG flight numbers. So maybe now they have back their planes and do not need spare 737s anymore... Correct. 2x E190 and 2x A320 were working for Air I...

Re: Wizz Air News & Expansion

Ryanair beat Wizz Air Sofia to Athens (Wizz came in after Ryanair). Ryanair beat Wizz Air Sofia to Cologne: Wizz Air operated the route for about two years before Ryanair flooded the market. Wizz Air have had a few victories in Romania. Ryanair had more wins at Sofia. SOF-FCO was operated for years...

Re: Wizz Air had 3 incidents of unreliable airspeed yesterday 2/26

It is not maintenance. On Monday, 26th there was very strong snow, low temperatures and wind in Sofia.
There was something wrong with the deicing procedures of the particular ground operator, working for Wizzair...that is what I've heard.

Re: TAAG - Angola Airlines Il-62s

The film says that a lot of soviet aircrafts and pilots are assisting the transport links in Angola and that a second Il-62 was be coming soon for TAAG.
Also a careful look at the ramp reveals a Tu-134 and Yak-40 in TAAG colors.

Check the activity of following registrations in FR24: I-SMEN I-SMER I-SMES I-SMET you will get good idea...

Re: Rare Aircraft You can fly, 2017 *FORUM #2*

And what about this crazy model- Ilyushin IL-114 ... Uzbekistan Airways has six of them! Beside two more in Russia with Vyborg Airlines... as rare as it can be! So the uzbeks are operating this gem regularly on domestic routes and you can try IL-114 on almost 1,5-2h sectors for 70-80$ per direction....

Re: Bulgaria Air to lease A330s and A350s, plans flights to the US

Sorry to ruin this topic but the source of this "information" is absolutely and totally unreliable. No airbuses 330 and 350 for Bulgaria Air in near and more distant future! (I'll be so glad to spot BIG-buses over my home but reality @SOF is much different) Bulgaria Air has more urgent tas...
