There will be a new cabin introduced next year with the arrival of the 777-300ERs, including a new first and business class. Not sure about economy, although I think AVOD is in the works.

1) A340-600s may still be ordered.

2) In 2 years time CX will start looking at the 787/A350 with view to start long thin routes and even replace the A330s.

3) A couple of years after that, the 747-8 and A380 will be looked at.

In today's SCMP, that CX is in final negotiations for 16 777-300ERs. Order looks like it will be announced towards the end of next week. No word on whether Airbuses will also be ordered.

The ex-SQ A340-300s plus B-HXL were due to be returned from this year, but I have not heard anything about it for a while so I assume things have changed. CX can definately not afford to give up four of any type of plane at the moment.

Apparently, ANZ weren't too happy with CX, as the latter used it for lots of short hops and base training a lot, so when they got their plane back, it had done loads of landings/cycles, but very few actual flying hours in comparison.

What is so dangerous about it? They did a 60 degree heading change and NOT a 60 degree angle of bank. 500ft was indeed a little low, but it is not dangerous. A few more miles along and they would have been at 500ft anyway!!

I recently had a trip with Cathay Pacific and they were very nice flights. The stewards and stewardesses were smiling and quite nice. Food was not too bad either, but it was a good overall experience. Go for Cathay.

That doesn't really explain it. At altitude, the air is cold and dry. Hot air from the engine exhaust cools down and condenses? I assume there is a lot of moisture in jet exhaust is there? If this is the case, why does the trail dissapate? It's not as if the air warms up again. It stays just as cold...
