Re: Pilot protesting single pilot operations

Sounds like we want to trade a pilot for a second dispatcher. Good luck with this pilot/dispatcher watching 10 flights at once trying to follow every aircraft change. Even more luck with a interruption in radio signal because the plane is parked at the wrong jet bridge or at an airport in the Americ...

Sounds like we’re just trying to replace a seat on the plane with a seat on the ground and do it in a much more complicated way with some mythical vaporware that offers no solution to required redundancy.

Re: Pilot protesting single pilot operations

The one major thing you are missing in this whole topic is the actual aircraft. Did you even read the article? Your responses seem to suggest that the current aircraft (which are designed for 2 pilot crew) will remain exactly the same but with one less pilot. That is not the case, the whole idea is...

I call foul on this one. This comes up from time to time on these boards. One does not have to have "experience operating planes" to have an opinion. Such a philosophy is very restrictive, almost oppressive. I never knew Lyndon Johnson, but I'm pretty sure he was a jerk. I'm entitled to m...

"Those" people do have an idea what a 2 pilot crew does and virtually everything you listed in your long story can be automated. Airports without ILS today don't have to remain that way. You mentioned narrowbody airbus so I'm guessing you're driving the 320 family, which was designed in t...
