Re: Australian Aviation Thread - July 2018

"Only one thing is certain about how Virgin Australia will look in a year - it will be different. Chief executive John Borghetti probably won’t be there. Although he has agreed to remain until 2020, his relationship with some members of the company’s dysfunctional board is fraught and his depa...

A question for @Sydscott or others who are business minded. I have read some interesting commentary, mainly not very flattering on Richard Goyder taking over as QF Chairman. What are your thoughts on his business acumen I guess and how will he go at QF?

Re: New Zealand Aviation Thread - April 2018

In the unlikely event of SQ performing a takeover, VA will likely still remain independent of the alliances. Any attempts by SQ to bring VA into *A will be veto-ed by NZ and UA. Re: Australian Aviation Thread - April 2018

I know that QF have applied to code share with CI on QF's NZ routes. Is someone able to clarify for me is this CI putting their code on QF routes or will it also mean QF putting their code on CI's trans-tasman routes?

Thanks.

Re: New Zealand Aviation Thread - April 2018

There are various markets that JQ doesn't currently have on the Tasman - for example, it has no Tasman services ex-CBR, CNS, DUD, HBA, HLZ, MCY, PMR or ROT, and JQ doesn't even serve trunk routes like AKL / WLG - BNE. The obvious question is why JQ don't serve them? If JQ aren't then Tiger aren't l...

I'm dubious about Tiger entering NZ domestic or Tasman. We haven't seen much expansion from Tiger in Australia and two routes have just been cut. Does VA charge more taxes than other airlines?
I've been planning some flights and when I compare NZ with VA for example at around the same fare, VA are more expensive and I can only put that down to taxes.
Is that right?
And why is that?
