Re: St. Louis Aviation Thread - 2020

So this is a weird buy. I can't even remember the last time (if ever) that I didn't have a gate at STL. Are they predicting that much of an uptick of passengers? https://mobile.twitter.com/flystl/status/1281719911048519681 I didn’t really understand it either. Seems like a lot of money for somethin...

Re: Anchorage (ANC) become the world’s busiest airport in the midst of coronavirus

Barring construction projects, how often is ANC limited to arrivals and departures sharing one runway? Having both FAI and ANC owned by the same organization (State of Alaska), I am not sure what would keep them from trying to get anything over Anchorage's capacity to tech in FAI instead. Obviously ...

Re: Question about vertical separation

Thanks. I didn’t realize 1,000 feet was first choice. I thought that was just when the automatic anti collision kicked in. This may be a stupid question but I thought there is some margin of error for altimeters based on departure airport, weather, etc. In the United States all aircraft operating a...

Interesting to see the potential option for dismantling of the C gates in that render to convert to regular gates. Must be frustrating after they built that out for Horizon’s hub- just for it to disappear.

Re: Idaho Airports and Aviation Thread - 2020

DL does do a IDA-MSP nonstop seasonally. Probably for the aforementioned increasing Yellowstone traffic. Well I just checked some dates in latter July and no n/s MSP-IDA. Hmm. I just check too and found nothing. Maybe they dropped it and it slipped under my radar.. This route was originally operate...

Alex, with all due respect, there isn’t demand from Marion to STL either. Let’s be real. It’s to reposition aircraft for maintenance in Nashville. Of course there isn't any demand to STL from MWA, that's why there's EAS! Hahaha There is more demand though to STL then Nashville, DOT proves it. We se...

Re: AS MAX impact and the NEO's future

You'd be wise to check before you make these posts. The AS 739 has operated out of DCA. Furthermore, you don't have a fleet of aircraft for just one airport. AS could have ordered the A321 long before acquiring Virgin America if they had wanted it. Having landed there and having departed there with...

24% out?! I knew PUJ was suffering, but not that much! Someone, please explain the 24 out 93 in for PUJ. I have never understood that. Are people using connections on the way out due to the departure time of the non-stop? The outbound was fairly early in the morning so not many connections could be...

Seems like AS is really painting themselves into a corner growth wise. Are they just too tight on money to ride some of these newer markets out to see if there is a pick-up in traffic? Concerning what this means for AS expansion in the coming years. There are only so many more places to go from SEA ...

ANC? Wow! B6 cant even make this work from Seattle. Go LH group! Awesome additions! According to the B6 website, they still fly SEA-ANC during the summers. B6—and I’m just guessing here—appears to use an aircraft that would otherwise RON at SEA for this service. They depart SEA after 8PM, land in A...

Isn't this flight currently 3/4x a week? I would assume if it was not performing great 2x schedule would be tried like some of their other smaller cities. But maybe it is just that bad.

Re: F9 Could Use A321XLR Order for Transatlantic

F9 is getting the jet to fly Transconinental flights from the East to the West Coast. Why do they need the XLR for that? The regular NEO should be sufficient. 240 pax + bags + winds, I would hope the A321NEO could take that on, but maybe it is just on the wrong side. I imagine a heavy plane like th...

Re: F9 Could Use A321XLR Order for Transatlantic

While DEN may be their largest city, don't assume any of these "long-haul" (HI included) would be from DEN. Frontier is a ULCC point-to-point carrier. The longer stage A321 network will be a mismatch of origin cities all over the country to wherever.

Do the recent incidents at Southwest not at least support this a little? When you look at which airlines are fined for MX issues it seems like WN is frequently on that list. Not to mention a couple high profile (one of which was deadly) engine issues in the last couple years. I'm happy everyone is s...

Counting HNL as Australia/Oceania would add several more members to the club besides YYZ - EWR, IAD, JFK, and ORD would all make it under the same logic. I personally wouldn't count it, but I understand the logic. Since when (never) has Hawaii been considered part of Oceania? Just because it's in t...

I don't know why it would be anyone but F9- this is 100% the kind of city they have been going after and frankly surprised they haven't been there in the last few years anyway. SY has stated their intention to pick-up "left over" pax on high demand routes, BIL does not fit the description....

The comment refers to the black cockpit window mask that seems to be spreading beyond the A350. So my question remains. Is the black cockpit w...

First- BZN is the chief market in Montana, regardless of population of the surrounding area. Look at the current capacity and network from BZN vs BIL if you think population is the driving factor. Also look at the type of flying into BZN, lots of single daily flights to larger metro areas. That shou...

Where is that hyperloop/ constantly mentioned high-speed rail from LA? :)
13% of LAS departures are to the LA Basin alone- sounds like an easy way to get some capacity back.

Re: Why Sun Country 737-800 sits for 3 days do nothing!

Good thought about casino flying, but SY has more than enough options to get planes to and from LAS/IFP. Based on the seasonality of this route, which is the end of August to November (same for SAV and AUS), the aircraft are most likely intended to be used for NCAA College Football charters.

Prime location for fall college football charters, which are typically Friday - Saturday. Shorter ferry flights to west coast schools makes for a much more competitive price. Look at SAV and AUS, you should see something similar. I imagine this is the entire reason this flight exists, no way it will...
