Re: Germany Future MPA Aircraft News and Discussion Thread

The US is against defense protectionism Are you kidding?!? The US is the protectionist part here. Last I checked, they have forced hundreds of F-35s, F-16s, P-8s, C-17s, C-130s, C-17s etc. on European nations. They couldn't even be bothered to run the tanker competition fairly with a European winner.

Re: Germany Future MPA Aircraft News and Discussion Thread

I guess I just don't get how PESCO/NATO can't look at some pretty awesome capability in RIVET JOINT/AIRSEEKER, JSTARS, COMBAT SENT and COMPASS CALL as the kind of supra-national capability that really doesn't have an non-US analog (outside of the RAF's AIRSEEKER.) Because PESCO was created to offse...

Does anyone have any more information on Ballarin or WOW/USAerospace? I'd love to gather some more evidence. Wikipedia says they are still looking for funding. It surprises me that the 777 and 787 would have a common type anywhere. The avionics are pretty different. I'd imagine the change in avionics alone would require that. Note that common type rating doesn't necessarily mean you can go from one to the other without additional training ;) Just going fr...

Ethiopia has 21 Mig-21's of "unknown status". Egypt has over 200 F-16s. If 70% of Egypt's air force disappeared tomorrow, they would dominate the Ethiopian air force. Also, Ethiopia and Egypt share no border, and have never fought a war. I have my doubts about that. Ethiopia has significa...
