Re: Atlas Air 3591 Down in Trinity Bay, Texas

Even if it was half that 6187.5 litres is still a lot of fuel. So where is it. Probably stuck in the mud. If you're suggesting fuel starvation, running out of fuel does not cause airliners to drop out of the sky like a stone. Pilots are in fact trained on how to glide their aircraft, and every airc...

Re: Atlas Air 3591 Down in Trinity Bay, Texas

Having read the Flightglobal item, we now know only slightly more than before. However, IMO the size of the debris field would seem to indicate that it was in one piece until impact. In that’s the case then where is the fuel. Very little fuel contamination reported on the ground. Oh come on, the pl...

Re: Fire in Upper Deck Economy Cabin BA208 Sunday 20th Jan

Something doesn't really add up here. Isn't the SOP to try to contain the fire and land ASAP? In this case, the fire was contained; but who says it's not going to restart? Also, if there was "horrific" smoke and fumes on the upper deck and the lower deck could smell it, again isn't the SO...

Fire in Upper Deck Economy Cabin BA208 Sunday 20th Jan

I was a passenger onboard BA208 on Sunday 20th Jan 19. There was a brief fire in the upper deck economy cabin on BA208 about two hours into the flight on Sunday evening. A mobile phone battery had a thermal run away causing the phone to get red hot smoke & burst into flames. I know the mobile wa...

Re: Family sit on floor during flight, not enough seats.

I don't believe this. No way an airline would carry more pax than they can offer seats to, feels like somebody is in desperate need for attention... As for jumpseats, most aircraft have more jumpseats then needed, i.e. for extra crew on training etc, most of the time you have 1 or 2 jumpseats free,...

Re: Not a good start for AW101 in Norway

As this happened during an engaged ground run, dynamic rollover will not be the culprit, unless collective input occurred and the helicopter started to lift off which I would say was highly unsightly. However I have seen a Seaking engage it’s rotors with AFCS selected & this resulted in all 5 m...

Considering that the undercarriage has not collapsed or been retracted by mistake, and that there was no gale side wind at the time, one can only speculate about a faulty pilot's command inducing lift and bank. It seems. A helicopter, particularly of that size and weight, does not simply tip-over o...

It’s lying on its side relatively intact, however all the main rotor blades are gone. I have 3 photos. Will tr...

I think regardless of politics and world policy the idea of putting 300+ lithium batteries in the hold of an aircraft where nobody can get to them for 8+ hours is quite scary/concerning. How is it any different than the cabin? The Cargo holds have real fire suppression, the cabin has a tiny FA oper...
