Re: Possible successor for F-16 to be built?

Throws an interesting twist to the Finnish airforce race this year. If the US themselves want already something more simple to replace several of these expensive monsters, it's worth asking why the heck anybody else would buy them. Not to mention it's known to be unreliable, and very expensive in ev...

What is the ideal aircraft?

Motivated by the A/B lineup-race, I got to thinking, what is the ultimate\ideal aircraft? I mean forget today’s technology, fast forward 100 years, what does the market need? To me that would be a 50-seater aircraft with 5000nm max range, 50MUSD list price and a 500USD/h propulsion cost. Any thoughts?

Most likely, the pilots did that, to give their passerngers an impressive sight on the mountains. I would say, you can cancel the term "most likely" and replace it with "for sure". The reason why they flew that low is the Martinsloch (Martin's hole), a roughly 60 by 70 feet size...

I was on a DASH-8 a few times, when the pilot announced this procedure stating it’s in order to heat up engine oil to the required level.

Don’t know if indeed for that reason, or just something that would make sense to normal people.

Well, the technology and the fuselage were from the 50’s. So it started off as a ”max” already.

Can Boeing design a more capable, lighter wing than the A321 without resorting to folding wingtips? A wing that fits in a 36m gate and lifts 110 to 120t? If it is CFRP, has slightly more area than the A321, split winglets, and 40K GTF engines, perhaps that is another option for a future aircraft. Y...
