Anyone have more info on what the pilots are asking for compared to what they rejected. The article is short on a lot of detail other that BA apparently offering an 11.5% increase over 3 years, and the union rejecting it and that they're 5 million pounds apart. Found that BA has around 3900 pilots,...Jump to post
If that is the case....than that is no different than what happened to Hawaiian at McCaren when LAS moved them from the old Terminal 2 complex to the satellite complex that their flights arrive and depart at now. The ideal configuration is between 50-60 J seats, 4-5 rows of PE, and no more than 130Y. Ideal for who? I’m pretty sure United can figure out what’s best fortheir needs. United has an excellent Yield Management group in Chicago They have a firm grasp on what they're selling as to what they're offer...Jump to post

Amtrak suffers dilution from intermediate stops, so actual load factor is in the 60s. Dilution happens when a NYC - PHL passenger takes a seat that could otherwise be sold to a more profitable NYC - DCA passenger, making it seem like trains are "SOLD OUT" when they're actually not. Diluti...Jump to post
Amtrak sells out frequently on DC-philly-NY-BOS, it leaves the airlines some space. Demand is too high for Amtrak to keep up especially Acela. I use to commute NY-DC frequently and Amtrak is a better product in every way but when schedules changed Amtrak you would hit sold out trains too frequently...Jump to post

Looking at the present renderings, I guess all of the parking garages are gone to make room for a "central park"? Still trying to understand a two main ring roads. Every airline in North America that has tried this, has been unsuccessful. Every airline . The process has always been the same .... Start with F fares, but people will come because it's like a club. The application spends 40-odd pages describing the differences between interlining, codesharing and a JV. Basically the issue is that QF and AA are in effect competitors, so there's no incentive for AA to help QF out of LAX when they have their own flight to fill and vice versa. By having a JV, the...Jump to post
Hopefully gets over the line this time around. QF have also come out stating they’ll be pulling out of DFW if the JV is knocked back (I highly doubt will pull out!). EK413 In the application, AA said it would remove QF's code on all/most of its domestic services out of DFW and will reduce codeshare...Jump to post
I'll just say it ... I'll be very surprised if this hotel is successful long term. That surprises me only because the alternatives are so far away. If they keep it up and don't go nuts with the rates (and I do agree with you that once the novelty wears off they may have to compete more on price tha...Jump to post
lets examine todays operations from both airlines. UA is currently running at 19% of flight operations delayed. B6 is currently running at 10% of their flights delayed (actually a good day for B6) Combined, that's nearly 30% total flights delayed. Is this really what we would have to look forward t...Jump to post
Before Basic Economy fares, Spirit would have a $49 fare from XXX-XXX (a market that had legacy competition). If American, Delta or United (with free seat assignment, carry-ons, drinks, snacks, etc) matched the fare they would get $49. If someone chose Spirit, they might pay $49 then pay for a seat...Jump to post
Wow, that's expensive. jetBlue capped prices at $99, and I scored my flight out yesterday for $51 on Spirit after buying the ticket the day before. But there's no doubt they'll fill that plane up, especially when considering the massive traffic to get out of FL. The 747 is a heck of a lot more expe...Jump to post

As of now, they're only using one, A4.

Ryanair can claim whatever they like but the basic laws of economics do not support their claim. An airline can only increase fares if demand supports it. Their actual costs don't apply to the revenue equation. Perhaps it might be more accurate to say "an airline can only increase fares if com...Jump to post
