Re: BA pilots to strike, 9-10 27 September.

Anyone have more info on what the pilots are asking for compared to what they rejected. The article is short on a lot of detail other that BA apparently offering an 11.5% increase over 3 years, and the union rejecting it and that they're 5 million pounds apart. Found that BA has around 3900 pilots,...

The ideal configuration is between 50-60 J seats, 4-5 rows of PE, and no more than 130Y. Ideal for who? I’m pretty sure United can figure out what’s best fortheir needs. United has an excellent Yield Management group in Chicago They have a firm grasp on what they're selling as to what they're offer...

Re: B6 Announces Major BOS Expansion

Amtrak suffers dilution from intermediate stops, so actual load factor is in the 60s. Dilution happens when a NYC - PHL passenger takes a seat that could otherwise be sold to a more profitable NYC - DCA passenger, making it seem like trains are "SOLD OUT" when they're actually not. Diluti...

Re: B6 Announces Major BOS Expansion

Amtrak sells out frequently on DC-philly-NY-BOS, it leaves the airlines some space. Demand is too high for Amtrak to keep up especially Acela. I use to commute NY-DC frequently and Amtrak is a better product in every way but when schedules changed Amtrak you would hit sold out trains too frequently...

Re: AA and QF re-file for Joint Venture

The application spends 40-odd pages describing the differences between interlining, codesharing and a JV. Basically the issue is that QF and AA are in effect competitors, so there's no incentive for AA to help QF out of LAX when they have their own flight to fill and vice versa. By having a JV, the...

Hopefully gets over the line this time around. QF have also come out stating they’ll be pulling out of DFW if the JV is knocked back (I highly doubt will pull out!). Before Basic Economy fares, Spirit would have a $49 fare from XXX-XXX (a market that had legacy competition). If American, Delta or United (with free seat assignment, carry-ons, drinks, snacks, etc) matched the fare they would get $49. If someone chose Spirit, they might pay $49 then pay for a seat...
