Blue Hawaiian is the only logical one. Hawaiian could start Atlantic flights in 6 months. JetBlue has the domestic feed. Why would SWA want anything to do with B6. Two different airlines. So if I read that Tribune article correct, they are going to retask some of their hub flights to do westbound 'red eyes'...I don't know if arriving early, EARLY in the morning in the Islands is a good thing. China made Hawaiian choose. It was either operate to PEK or TPE. But couldn't do both. I haven't heard of that - why target HA with that, and not other carriers that fly to both TPE and the PRC? When it dropped TPE in 2014, HA cited low demand - not government interference - as its core reason. ......

To me a simple idea that might work is just trip some circuit breakers. Wouldn't be 100% but they are not clearly labeled and you would need to know which ones to trip.

First off you want to try to divert to the closes airport to the destination. That gives the airline and passengers options. Weather- optimal you want to divert on the backside of the wx but like last night that wasn't a option coming from the southeast. So bwi and iad got the brunt of the diversion...
