I'm not familiar with the airport, but looking at Google maps I'd say space is a reason. In order to have high speed exits, you need a decent amount of space between the runway and the parallel taxi way in order to allow the plane to slow down enough.Jump to post

I guess this would mostly rely on connections? Can't really see a demand between Toronto and Muskoka when the drive takes roughly two hours. Although something might escape me, only looking at it from afar... The drive can easily be double that on long weekends. Perhaps there will be some connectin...Jump to post

The idea of any crew member having a gun on their person on an airplane is outrageous. However, just to humour those gun nuts, why would a pilot need one? Shouldn't the purser be the person to carry it? If any violent incident was to happen on an airplane, it would 99.9% happen in the cabin. The fi...Jump to post

Does AC still have a pilot base in YWG? It's definitely not a hub for AC, but I seem to remember hearing they had a pilot base there for whatever reason.Jump to post

Canadians love Cleveland--its just too hard to get to unless you're coming from YYZ.
They don't? In Toronto at the US preclearence, both US and Canadian passport holders have one line, and all other passport holders have another line. No guarantee that one line is faster than the other though.Jump to post

His ability and willingness to travel to out of the way places, and speak for those whose voices are not usually heard will be missed. Not sure why YYZ is even considered a factor, considering that LAX alone has nearly three times more foreign born and 1st-generation Ethiopians than all of Canada, let alone just YYZ. There's more to Ethiopian's operation than O&D at ADD. Their whole business model is opening up the entire Afri...Jump to post

I think some people would be surprised how few cleaning products are loaded onto the typical airplane (at least in North America). It's one thing to ask crew to clean a lavatory armed with a full supply of cleaning products. Quite different to ask them to do it with nothing more than some paper towe...Jump to post
Significant downgrade for business passengers with no flat bed If AC was consistantly selling out J class on this flight the 767 would continue. If a lie-flat bed is a deal breaker, those passengers can backtrack to YUL/YOW/YYZ. Honestly I doubt many will complain, considering they're pretty lucky ...Jump to post

It's worth noting that only those that have Electronic Travel Authorizations or are US/Canadian citizens would find this useful. Every Dash flight I have taken requires waiting for a ground crew to tether the prop, RJ's open the door and deplaning starts immediately. On the PHL-ROA flights, the RJ is twenty minutes quicker. As for movements, that's kinda irrelevant comparing general aviation airports to airports whose focus lies strongly within commercial aviation. You don't hear about other airlines having similar issues (or any serious issues for that matter) with the A320 family. As far as we know, both incidents could have happened in a 737 as well, or any aircraft. Don't jinx Sunwing, I think they are the only Canadian airline that hasn't screwed up a la...Jump to post

So big question is...Can AC fill a 763 on YYT-LHR? But they don't need to. They need to fill it (or at least get a decent load) from YHZ and YYT combined.
