Re: Aircraft that are heavy on the controls or light?

Airbus doesn't have artificial feel at all and there is no feedback from the flight controls. The stick is spring-loaded so that force increases with deflection. Holding at full deflection takes a fair bit of force, but most manoeuvres require little stick movement. The force gradient is very smoot...

Re: Aircraft that are heavy on the controls or light?

Airbus aircraft (and I believe all FBW aircraft) have an entirely artificial feel, since they lack a mechanical connection to the flight control surfaces. Usually they try to go for low forces to reduce physical exhaustion. Airbus doesn't have artificial feel at all and there is no feedback from th...

Re: Can a person tell the difference between A321neo, LR and XLR just by looking from outside?

B6’s subfleet of LRs have a red ETOPS sticker on the NW gear door. Beyond the flaps of the XLR variant, it would appear that there are no other cosmetic differences between NEO variants. However, B6’s A321s (both CEO and NEO) started a trend of using only one tail design for each type, rather than ...

Re: Effect on 717 of B-52 Upgrades

It depends on how different the engine overhaul is. Remember the MD-90 shared the same basic V2500 as found on thousands of A320s, but it is different enough that ultimately by the end only one shop was qualified to work on it. Yup. Our (B6) V2500s used to go to MTU Hannover, now I believe they hav...

A common nick name for the A320, and maybe other A3xx, is Fifi. Why? I have no clue, but that's what a few of us called it. The 737 is known as the guppy at UAL. It’s French, hence FiFi. With final assembly in Germany I'd think something in Deutsche would be a more fitting nickname. Fifi could appl...
