Re: Turkish Aviation June 2020

Hello, I need some help on London-IST Flights We have relatives who want to come back to Turkey but their mid-july TK flights are being cancelled and re-instated again. What I hear is, if a flight gets full or good enough load at a specific day, they open the flight as a repatriation flight and go ...

Re: Turkish Aviation June 2020

My friend who was desperate to go from LON to Istanbul figured out a way to do it. She got herself a WizzAir flight from LTN to BOJ (Bulgaria). Then took a taxi to the border. Walked the 1KM buffer zone into Turkey, then took a bus to Istanbul. It took her 15 hours but she said the whole experience ...

Re: Turkish Aviation May 2020

Someone told me sozcu.com.tr has just reported Turkey is cancelling the requirement of quarantine for Turkish citizens returning back to the country. Can anyone translate this report? What does this mean to airliners' plans? will Turkey be allowing foreign visitors soon?

How to hire a private jet

Hi all, A close friend is desperate to travel from London to Turkey. Due to flight cancellations and no repatriation flights, she is now looking at private jets. How does one go about hiring a private jet (3-6 people) from London To Turkey? More specifically: -How do you search for the safety record...

Re: Turkish Aviation May 2020

My Turkish friend in London is desperate to go back to Turkey (Canakkale) ASAP. Does anyone know how this could be done? Are there repatriation flights from the UK? Another option is maybe to fly to Sofia and then reach Turkey by land? When I looked at Flightradar24, there seems to be some repatria...

Re: Turkish Aviation May 2020

I do find it surprising that the UK is not one of the countries TK is planning to fly in June. If you look at deaths per million, UK has lower numbers than Belgium and is not too far off from Netherlands or Sweden.

What about China Airlines? Their LGW-TPE route is doing very well and it’s not a secret they want to move this route to LHR

Re: An Ethiopian Airlines flight did a go around, and this is what happened

I experienced a Go Around on a KLM flight from AMS to IST on a 737-800 oh around 10 years ago. It was a sunny day with no clouds and no wind. The pilots abandoned touchdown in the last minute and decided to do a go around. Funny part was when the pilot came up on PA to make the announcement. Using h...

Re: Turkish Aviation September 2018

Hi all, slightly off topic question. I visit Istanbul almost every summer, and I noticed the tourist demographics changes every summer. For example, three summers ago there were a bunch of Brazilians. I rarely saw any Taiwanese tourists until last summer when the city was inundated with Taiwanese to...

Re: Skytrax: Airline of the year is 'Singapore Airlines'

I am quite curious to where the "pay to get the star" comes from. I understand the Hainan Airlines example, but I want to see other examples if ever.... I flew Hainan Airlines from London Heathrow to Changsha on Business Class back in May. It was the best Business Class experience I've ev...

Re: What airlines are next for London Southend Airport?

I would love to see Eurowings fly to SEN from CGN. There is a lot of traffic between south Essex and Cologne due to presence of Ford at both ends.

Re: Norway is to make all short-haul planes electric by 2040

Excuse me for the ignorance, but what is the weight difference between a fully charged and fully discharged battery? If there isn’t any, there does the charge come from? If there is a difference, is the weight due to electrons? Big smile :) You didn't read much physics at school, did you? 1 kg of e...

Re: A paradigm shift in the design of airliners

I have another paradigm shift proposal. Why don't we add an alternator on board and an electric motor. Use the electric motor to turn the fan blades. Use the alternator to create electricity out of the turning of the blades which in turn can power the the electric motor. The plane will never have to...

Re: Secret life of the long haul flight

I watched it on Friday. I was a bit disappointed with the inaccuracies of show. Everytime they took an outside shot of the Qantas A-380, a 737NG wing magically appeared. How did they get the same crew to fly from LHR to Sydney?
