N88ZL As 2015 Begins

Anyone have any update on the old 707?

I saw on the FAA N-Number database where the registration was allowed to expire. Is it still sitting over by the hangar? With gas prices comes back below $2/gallon I'd hope this bird has a few flights left as the new year approaches.

I have a thread on here awhile back where a Boeing 707 broke up in mid air from turbulence over Japan back in the 1960s. So the midair breakup from turbulence is plausible.

Spotted them on the ANG ramp last week. They've been sitting there awhile and look operational. I knew the C-130's left and the Oklahoma Air National Guard brought in -135's. Didn't know they were E's though. Any plans for re-engining?

Okay this can be done for any aircraft of any make but I'll start with the Boeing 707. As few as there are in the skies these days, I went back to see what aircraft from major carriers are still flying today. This can be fun for any type aircraft and the results are interesting! Cycle times and hours on the E-3 platforms are very low compared to commercial 707's. I haven't heard about the B-52 being replaced either, what's up with that? What I've heard from my pilot buddies in the 552nd, the 767 isn't as performance capable in a combat setting as the 707 is. Also, the radar...
